Chapter 439: Alban (3)

Perseus POV

"Where do you think you're going?" he asked

"Um...I was just about to take my leave, the castle has been great, I'd rate it 5 stars."

"Do you seriously think that you can get away with anything before my presence?" he asked and released his aura and the pressure around the area dropped.

I remained unaffected, but the same couldn't be said for the environment. The air grew heavy, laden with a suffocating tension that seemed to squeeze the very life out of the area.

Others in the vicinity, not accustomed to such malevolent energy, faltered. Some stumbled backward, their faces contorted in discomfort, while others seemed frozen in place as if caught in the grip of an invisible vise. Objects rattled, shadows deepened, and even the torches flickered erratically as if struggling against the oppressive force unleashed by the Demon Lord.

It was a display of dominance, a demonstration of power meant to cow those around him. Yet, amidst the chaos and the tremors that rippled through the surroundings, I stood still, and he was quite surprised.

"So, uh, why are you here?"

"If you must know, my children are here and I promised to show them what a demon lord could do." he answered, "Didn't think that the trouble was you."

"Well, this trouble is leaving, see ya-"

A column of fire pillar then burst through the ground right next to me and a ring of fire surrounded us in the next second, it was a warning sent by the demon lord, Lachlan, to me, that he wasn't going to let me escape that easily.

I turned back and could see myself surrounded by the angry Alban and the curious Violet as the others looked at me from far away. Ruka was right about suggesting bringing her along, but too late, it's not like I'm terrible at escaping.

"So, tell me Perseus, was the strong abnormal energy in the north your doing?" he asked with an amused smile.

"Technically? Well, it's partially my fault...nah, yep, it's my fault."

Getting Cain here, pulling the gods here...yeah, it's all totally my fault, but hey, it's for the better, Phineas and his people need some sense knocked, and hopefully meeting God will allow them to change, especially the racist ones, those guys are horrible.

Discriminating against the demons is a bad thing, but somewhat understandable considering the history of their clashes, but against fellow humans, the ones who are fighting with you? Heck, they're discriminating against some of the heroes as well.

"I would recommend for you to go, but...even you won't survive if you get caught up in an attack."

"Oh? And who's strong enough to do that?" he asked, still amused.

"Oh, your goddess."

"What?"

"Your goddess is there fighting a lot of enemies because even she can't fight such a force alone. Wow, your eyes are scary now."

"Perseus, I think that you are a talented and sensible individual, but try not to bring up the name of our goddess so much. Especially not in the time of war where using her name in vain is offensive to those who are fighting under her name."

"Well, I'm telling the truth, your goddess is there, you can go check it out for yourself, unfortunately, like I said earlier, even you can die, after all, even you cannot stand against a god."

Anna POV

The lab's a hive of activity, and I'm knee-deep in creating these vessels for my boss. It's like a puzzle coming together, one piece at a time. The workbench is a mess, but it's our organized chaos that is somehow working well enough for the rest of us.

The team collaborates seamlessly, bouncing ideas off each other and troubleshooting challenges that arise. There's an atmosphere of camaraderie, a shared passion for unlocking the potential of these vessels. The excitement in the air is infectious, fueled by the promising strides we made so far.

Once all of this is over...it might get boring since our job has finally finished, but an early retirement may not be bad, I've always wanted to try selling jewelry, might get into that business later and see how it goes.

The vessels, they're taking shape in ways that make me smile. From sketches to actual prototypes, it's like watching a movie come to life. We're testing them out, and man, they're showing real promise, harnessing the power of gods is no joke, but our creations seem up for the challenge.

However, all of a sudden, I had a weird realization...Curly, Perseus' alternative persona...it's sentient and made with a weak vessel...huh...? God healed him at the brink of death and may have strengthened the vessel to the point of it absorbing some of God's magic and regaining its original powers...?

Now the plans have changed a bit, we can focus on only 2 vessels if that's the case...but which power gained sentience? Based on the characteristics Perseus described before and from what I've seen, Loki is the best possibility.

But that vessel should be strong, he's inherited every bit and piece of Perseus' powers...and if he truly is a sentient power of a god gone rogue...the original power should be on par or even stronger than what Perseus possesses, it should pose a problem...I'll need to develop something to counter such a thing...

Because he's definitely coming here...and with God and Cain on his side...he's dangerous.

I'll need to warn my bosses, so I then took my phone and called Perseus since he needs to know it first, he should be out of the demon's territory by now.

"Wassup babe?" he greeted on the other end

"What?"

"Yeah, it's great hearing from you again, sorry for being late to our date, got something to do real quick, catch up to you soon, bye."

The call then ended...he got caught, he would never flirt with another woman so easily like that. So I then called my other boss to inform them about Perseus' situation, maybe they could send Leilah and Ruka to help him.
