Chapter Fifteen:

Damian had his head buried in a stack of papers when a knock came on the door.

"Come in,"He said and the door opened revealing his secretary. She was dressed in a black pencil skirt and a white shirt, which revealed almost half of her boobs despite all the buttons being closed. The top button looked like it was about to fall.

"Dress more decently to work next time or you're fired,"Damian said coldly.

"Yes sir,"she said forcing a smile to hide her disappointment. She had specifically dressed like this to get his attention and instead she received a warning.

"Why are you here?"Damian asked never taking his eyes off the file he was reading.

" A package was brought in for you,"she mumbled.

"Drop it and get out,"Damian said and the woman did as she was told.

Once alone, he took the small box-like package and opened it revealing a brand new phone. He stared at it for a while and got back to work. Maya didn't have a phone and gifting her this would really make her happy.

Damian wondered why her happiness suddenly became something he cared about but he just couldn't help it.

'It's good you're mine, wife. I don't think I can stand you being with another person," Damian mumbled. He tired to turn his attention back to his files but failed brutally. Sighing in defeat, he closed the file and got up, shoved his phone into his pocket and walked out with the package in his left hand.

**********

"Hahaha!" Damian walked into the once silent house now filled with laughter. Grandpa and Maya sitting in the couch watching T.V and laughing loudly.

"I can't believe he just said that," Maya said trying to catch her breath. Grandpa looked like he was trying to stabilize his breathing too because he looked as red as tomato.

"What going on here?" Damian asked as he walked inside. Both Maya and Master Dan looked his way but couldn't speak.

"You're back, I thought you'd be out late," Maya finally spoke after taking in a deep breath.

"Yeah....." Damian scratched the back of his head earning a suspicious look from his grandfather. "Turns put the work I had to take care of wasn't such a big deal," Damian said breaking eye contact with his grandfather.

"Are you sure there's no other reason? Because this is not my grandson," Master Dan said in a teasing manner.

"There's no other reason," Damian said glaring at his grandpa before moving to sit beside him.

"Is there something going on between you two?" Maya couldn't stop herself from asking when she noticed the strange stares the grandfather and grandson were exchanging.

"Everything is fine, but grandson here is trying to be naughty," Master Dan grinned, looking at Damian.

"Naughty?" Maya frowned and the old man nodded.

"See..."

"Maya I bought you this," Damian quickly interrupted his grandfather by giving Maya the package he had for her.

"For me?" Maya asked with a confused look as she took the bag. She slowly pulled the box out of the bag and her jaw dropped in shock.

"It's a phone!" She gasped.

"Not any ordinary phone but a customized one," Master Dan grinned revealing the wrinkles in the corner of his eyes and on his forehead.

"I don't understand," Maya said looking at them for an explanation.

"This is a phone that is designed my grandpa's very own tech company....."

"Grandpa has a tech company??"

Maya asked shocked evident in her voice.

"Yes and not everyone knows about it," Grandpa said proudly.

"I... I can't believe this," Maya stammered.

"And this phone you have here is only given to family," Damian said.

"But....."

"You're part of the family now since you are married to Damian," Master Dan chipped in before Maya could talk.

"Grandpa I can't accept this gift," Maya said gently putting the phone on the table. "It's too much," she shook her head.

"No my child, you're a Makari now so you'll need to start behaving like one. Therefore keep the phone and don't say a word," Grandpa said and Maya sighed blinking back the tears that had suddenly blurred her vision.

"Thanks so much Damian. Thank you too Grandpa for everything you two are doing for me," Maya said on the verge of tears.

"Come on, let's no add emotions to this," Grandpa said and Maya laughter slightly, whiles cleaning the tears off her eyes a. "You're part of the family now so everything we do for you is our responsibility," Grandpa Dan said and Maya smiled. She unboxed her new phone with a wide smile.

"Enjoy your new phone, Damian and I have something to discuss," Master Dan said, getting up from his seat and Damian followed.

****Damian's study****

"Now tell me the real reason why you left the office," Master Dan said with a smirk immediately they walked into the study.

"What do you mean by that?" Damian asked walking past his grandfather. Damian stood in front of the window and looked at the thick green trees outside.

"I still don't understand why you underestimate me," Master Dan chuckled. "You've lived with me your entire life and still think you can hide something from me?"he said walking over to Damian. Placing an arm in his shoulder,he said:

"For the last time son, tell me why you left the office."

"Grandpa, I already told you. The work left wasn't..."

"Much?.... Come on Damian. We both know you're lying. There's never less work for you so why don't you tall me you came home because of Maya."

Damian's head snapped towards his grandfather as soon as the old man finished talking.

"What are you saying?" Damian said trying not to act like he's been caught. He sighed and scratched the back of his head.

"You do that whenever you're lying or hiding something from me," Master Dan said and Damian's jaw dropped. He didn't know his grandfather knew this habit of his. What shocked him the most was that he had been doing that a lot in front of the old man but he never questioned him.

'Maya is really changing everyone," he thought, shaking his head slightly.

"So now that you know I'm right, tell me what you're hiding," the old man pulled Damian out of thoughts. Damian sighed and sat on his desk.

"Grandpa I....I think I'm in love," he said searching for an unknown something in the old man's eyes.
