"There ya are dear...come on out baby" Coaxed Cypher as they gently picked up the small child hiding under a bed in an old house. The screams had died down now in other parts of the house and now it was completely silent. "Are you gonna h-hurt me?...." Sniffled the small child who is shaking in Cypher's arms. "No one will hurt you my child... you're safe now" they explained as they began to walk out of the old bedroom, covering the child's eyes from the gory mess Cypher's friends had made.
"Aye you found the kid!" Hollered Jet who is one of the 2 friends that Cypher keeps around (everyone else is a nuisance to Cypher). Jet is a big burly guy with tan skin and black hair in a braid. "Great observation dummy." Muttered Jet's twin Ret who looks exactly the same but with dark brown hair and green eyes. Cypher gently leaned the little boy's head against their shoulder to hide his eyes from the blood bath that was once his family and covered his ears. "Is the boy the only kid? Or were there more?" Whispered Cypher and the twins shook their heads no. "Good. Let's get goin boys"
Once they got outside they put the kid down and Cypher held his hand. "We'll take you somewhere safe and sound ok?" Assured Cypher as they started to walk away from the old shack the little boy once called home. "Where's my momma?..." asked the little boy who seemed to be only 5. "Oh you don't want to know bub.." uttered Cypher with fake sadness. "What about daddy?.." asked the child with a stifled sob. "He's... well...gone my child.." they sighed. "You got us now kid!" Jet added with an excited tone. While they walked up to an old hotel that was actually full of people.
"Hey kid wanna play a game?" Asked Cypher as they walked through the gates. There were trenches everywhere and holes that led to underground tunnels. They echoed with the hungry groans of the living dead. "What game?.." stammered the child, now growing fearful of the "safe space" he was taken to. Cypher chuckled and gently led him inside. "We call it Survival of the Fittest. Ever heard of it?" She looked at him with a soft smile. "My momma said she played that game!" The little boy exclaimed. "Is that so? Well looks like it's your turn to play." Cypher giggled. "Momma said it's dangerous!" He cried and tried to back away but ended up just backing into Jet who picked the boy up. "Oh it's very fun! You'll love it baby!" She cheered as they walked outside to one of the trenches that was surrounded by bleachers full of people.
"I don't wanna play!!" Screamed the panicky child has he was carried to the edge of the trench. As he screamed Cypher shouted. "Is everyone ready for our next player!!" The crowd cheered which drowned out the kid's screams. "Perfect" she giggled. "Toss him in!" The crowd chanted and finally Cypher gave Jet the go ahead to drop the boy in the trench. Too bad his screams were drowned out by the crowd cheers. The boy was given no weapons. Nothing. As he landed on an old mattress to avoid breaking the player's bones.
"Hey Ret. Wanna announce this one?" Asked Cypher as she turned to her friend who grinned. "Send in the first one!!" He hollered as some other guys dropped down an old zom, who looked to have been long dead for years now. As bets were placed on if the kids would win or the zombie the crowd was cheering wildly. Most bets were placed on the zombie winning.
Down in the trench the zombie shambled slowly towards the little boy. Biting the air as it went and making grabbing motions. The boy finally looked up and screamed to see the monster his parents warned him to stay away from. The decaying corpses that now walked the earth. One bite and it was all over for anybody no matter how big or strong they were. Or how much the begged to not die it never mattered. Everyone knew one bite equals game over.
The little panicking boy ran to the farthest corner away from the creature that no longer had any thought process other then devour anything with a beating heart. Then another fell into the pit. And another. He didn't realize that Ret had ordered people to drop in a few more zoms to speed things up. The 3 zoms cornered the child and the last thing the poor boy heard was the cheers of the crowd and the hungry groans of the zoms. To end the game there was a blood curdling scream and that's how you knew the zoms had won.
