They had been in Copper Creek for about a month. People weren't very happy at the fact that 3 of the 4 leaders of Dead End were in their town. Cypher and the twins were used to the name calling, occasionally rock being thrown, and them constantly being yelled at through out the day. Cypher gets most of the hate due to the fact that she's blood related to Tiger. The twins are mostly left alone by the people of Copper Creek. Cypher on the other hand is not. People will walk up to her angry about a family member her friend that she apparently killed (she often doesn't remember) but just gives them a shrug and walks away. Did she feel sorry for any of them? Not at all. She didn't feel anything really most the time so the hate never bothered her. She was known as a monster or a menace throughout the town which made her laugh. She knew what she had done. She didn't much care about how the townspeople felt. She just went on with her day and called it good.
Ret had almost gotten into numerous fights because people wouldn't leave his brother alone. Jet never didn't do much in Dead End. Apparently to people of this town Jet was an easier target. Ret always made sure that his brother never heard what they were called.
In the middle of the night Cypher and Ret had gotten woken up by loud thudding. Cypher stepped out of her room and tried to listen to what part of the house the noise was coming from. Ret stepped out of his too. The loud thuds continued and the both traced it to Jet's room. "What the..." Cypher yawned. Ret gently tapped on Jet's door. "Aye Jet...you ok?.." he didn't open the door but he was answered with a hungry groan. That woke both of them up and made them alert. Cypher looked at Ret and he motioned for her to go get one of her weapons. From inside the room something hit the door and made Ret jump a little. Cypher came back with two knives and tossed one to Ret.
Ret knocked on the door again. "Jet. Are you alright?" He asked again but the only answer he received was another thud against the door and a loud groan. Cypher looked at Ret and he stood behind the door, ready to open it. Cypher stood on the other side and waited with her knife. Ret then reached and slowly opened the door and what stumbled out of the room caused Cypher to freeze. Ret couldn't see what used to be his brother shamble out the door. All he could see why Cypher's eyes widen and her jaw drop. Then he saw something reach for her. A grey skinned hand grab at Cypher. "Move!" Ret yelled and slammed the door, hitting whatever shambled out of the room and darting passed the door, grabbing Cypher and pulling her away from the bedroom door. When he finally turned to see what she was staring at he thought he felt his heart drop.
He saw his brother, his skin grey and his eyes milky white. His black shirt was drenched in what could only be blood. Ret saw a slit in his brother's neck that looked like it had been bleeding for hours. Jet slowly shambled towards them. Grabbing an biting at the air while coming closer. Ret painfully sighed and shoved Cypher into her room and shut the door then turned to his brother again. "I'm sorry..." he mumbled and stepped under Jet's arms and pushed him against the wall. His back was to Ret but he groaned hungrily and kept trying to bite him. "Sh.." he sighed then bit the blade of his knife and used his now free hand to grab the back of Jet's head and turn him so he's facing the wall. Then he used his knee to pin him against the wall and grab his knife out of his mouth.
"Say hi to Ma and Pa for me ok?.." he whispered and stabbed Jet's brainstem, then caught his now silent, motionless brother. Ret slowly sank to the floor with him in his arms. "I'm sorry..." he mumbled and hugged him. He wept silently. He wanted to know what coward killed his brother in his sleep. He wanted to know who he needed to hurt to avenge his brother. His sadness turned to rage and he kicked the wall. He kicked it hard enough to leave a large dent in the wall. "Damnit!!" He yelled then laid his head down on his dead brother's chest. He didn't hear Cypher come out of her room.
She silently walked to him and sat next to him. Cypher gently wrapped her arms around Ret and laid her head on his shoulder. Not a word was said between them. No words needed to be said. Jet was dead. Someone had killed him while they all slept. Now their trio was down to a duo. Cypher silently started to cry and she looked away. She couldn't bare look at her dead friend any longer. They had sat their and quietly cried till the sun rose.
