Confused Dallas

Dallas was just sitting on the ground next to a guard. He just sat there and watched her play with leaves with her good hand. She had a lazy smile and gently swayed with the light breeze. The guard sighed as he watched her. He didn't think she had any idea what was going on. He didn't even think she realized an explosion happened. Bones eventually trudged over and sat back down and pulled Dallas into his lap and held her close. "Hi Bones..." she smiled and laid back against him. He didn't respond. He just quietly held her. "You ok kid?" The guard asked and Bones looked away from him. He tried to put a hand on the kid's shoulder but Bones scooted away from him and cradled Dallas in his arms. X then called Bones over so he had to take Dallas out of his lap and set her on the forest floor once more. He got up and walked away, hiding his face from the guard.

"Huh..." he mumbled and felt Dallas's hand on his knee. "Hmh?" He looked at her and she was just tugging on his pants leg. "What Dallas?" He asked but she then just laid down with her head on his thigh. "Kai..." she tugged his pants leg again and he sighed. "Yes?" He looked down at her. "When is Cypher coming?..." she asked and he sighed. "Dallas..." Kai hesitated but she just stared up at him. "She's not- coming back.." he told her but Dallas just looked at him blankly. "Later?..." she asked but Kai shook his head. "No..." he sighed and gently patted her head. "You're not going to see her again..." he tried to tell her but her smiled stayed. "I think she'll be back soon..." Dallas giggled softly and played with leaves that were on the ground with her good hand. "Dallas..she's not coming back.." he told her but she shook her head. "She will..." Dallas smiled lazily but Kai shook his head.

"Dallas she's dead.." he sighed and her smile never faltered. She looked towards the destroyed gates and started to get up. Kai watched her slowly rise to her feet and begin to shamble. "There she is..." Dallas pointed and Kai looked. There was no one there. "No one is there-" he gently grabbed her arm. "There..." she just pointed else where and he looked. He saw Charlie wearing Cypher's trench coat. "That's not her.." he tried to tell her but she kept trying to shamble to him. Kai finally sighed and just let her go. Dallas slowly shambled over to Charlie with Hercules at her heels. Charlie was curled up in Shiny's arms and she slowly shambled to them. "Hey Dal.." Shiny sighed and Dallas slowly sat down, putting her hand on Charlie's back for a moment to support herself. Then she sat down behind him and laid her head on his back.

"Huh?..." he sniffled and looked back at her over his shoulder. "You're back..." she smiled lazily and wrapped her thin arms around him. "What?..." he sniffled and let go of Shiny to turn to her more. "You're back..." she repeated with a tired giggle and clung to Charlie. "But I've been here.." he turned around completely to face her and she let go so he could. "Up Cy..." Dallas held her arms out to him but he just stared at her. "Dallas-.. I'm not her-" he told her but she ignored him. She just reached and started messing with his coal black hair. "What took you so long?.." she asked but he didn't respond. He just looked at Shiny who shrugged. "She thinks I'm Cypher?-" Charlie told him but Shiny just looked him up and down. "Other then the poofy black hair and you wearing her trench coat there's no resemblance at all-" Shiny mumbled and Charlie felt Dallas curl up against him.

"Dallas" Shiny called to get her attention but she did not sit up. He then scooted closer and saw that she had fallen asleep. He sighed and just rubbed her head. "Probably just confused.." he sighed and Charlie nodded and leaned against Shiny. "I'm not sure if it's her not wanting to believe it or if it has something to do with her brain damage from drug use- that effects memory so i don't know" Shiny shrugged and Charlie just nodded and gently pulled Dallas into his lap. He held her gently and rested his head on top of hers. "I'm sorry..." he whispered to her but she remained asleep. Shiny gently rubbed Charlie's back then double checked the splint on Dallas's wrist. He hid his face in her matted hair and softly cried once more.
