New Plan

It had almost been a week and they still haven't left the house. Mama Williams, Penny, and Pippin were all trying to figure out how they would be able to find the boys again. If they weren't dead already of course. Mama William's head still ached but she didn't want to stay in the house any longer. They all decided that the best way to find them is to go somewhere that all of them are familiar with. "So where to Mama? Copper Creek, Dallas's cave, the ruins of Dead End." Pippin started listing off places and Mama gave her a confused look. "Why would you want to go to the ruins?-" she asked and Pippin just awkwardly shrugged. "Wait what are the other two locations?-" Penny asked and Mama Williams explained. "We have a friend, Dallas who lives in a cave in Flagstaff Arizona. Then Copper Creek is a town on the border of Nevada and California." Mama told her and Penny slowly nodded. "But- that's a almost a three week walk-" Penny sighed then looked up with a bright smile. "Wait! There's a facility in Utah that we can go to once we find those boys! It's called Haven. I can continue my studies there" Penny exclaimed.

"You can go do whatever you need to do after we find my boys, I'm not getting caught up in your mutated disaster." Mama Williams told her and Penny nodded. "That's fine" she sighed and Pippin picked up the lizard she was befriended by days ago. She had named him Dart and he followed her everywhere she went now, even sitting on her head or shoulder as she walked around. "Let's go to Dallas's, just to make sure nothing bad happened to her Mama" Pippin suggested and Mama Williams nodded and helped get their stuff together. Pippin kept trying to stop her from helping due to her head but Mama was stubborn enough to make Pippin give up. That morning they started their long trek back to Dallas's cave in hopes of finding her alive still. It had been a year since they last seen her and with the condition she was in it's hard to say if she had survived any longer. Especially since now there's a new plague spreading now that's even more dangerous then the zombie plague. "Hey uh- Mama-" Pippin tapped her and Mama Williams looked at her. "Are we sure Dallas could even survive this new plague- I mean it's been going on for a year now" Pippin shyly asked and Mama sighed. "I'm sure she's ok" she smiled but didn't believe herself.

They quietly left the house and began their trek. Dart the lizard laid on Pippin's head to bathe in the bright sun as she walked. Penny still wondered who this Dallas person was. She had never her of her and decided to try to question Mama. When Mama described this girl to her it sounded like she was already dead. "She's still living and breathing?- not zombified?-" Penny asked and Mama chuckled. "Still breathing, she does look like a zombie but I promise she's not." She spoke quietly to not alert anything that could possibly be around them. They all froze when they heard quiet groaning. It did not sound human so they all drew the weapons they had. Pippin held her spear and Mama held her Bowie knife. Penny held a sharpened broomstick she had made the few days they were in that house. There was soft thudding of footsteps as something huge emerged from between two of the houses. It was one of the large creatures with a lot of muscle, long arms that almost drag on the ground. It was about 10-15 feet tall and lightly swaying. It slowly made it's way across the street, occasionally stopping and leaning down. It would press it's palms to the asphalt and moved it's head around. Like it was trying to listen for it's next prey.

It grunted and rose again, continuing it's slow walk between some other house. Penny, Pippin, and Mama slowly started walking forward once more, careful to make sure they don't step on anything that could make noise. It took them 30 minutes to finally get to where the creature had crossed. Now it was just standing between houses with it's back to the street. They all watched it carefully to make sure it didn't turn and go after them. They thought they were in the clear until Penny accidentally hit her knee on an old burnt out car. It made a loud clank and they all froze. The creature roared and turned, swinging it's arm into the thin wood of the house next to it. Breaking part of the wall while going from a slow shambling walk to a sprint in the matter of seconds. The three girls split up immediately. Pippin dove under the old car, Penny hopped a fence into and old backyard, and Mama hid behind an overgrown bush in a front yard.

The creature stumbled and fell after tripping over the porch of an old house. It landed next to the car Pippin was laying under and she let out a quiet, scared squeak. She quickly covered her mouth and held her breath as the creature moved it's head closer to the car. It started to reach under and Pippin quickly scrambled out from under it, not wanting to be grabbed. Then she heard a shriek from the backyard that Penny had jumped into. The creature rose to it's feet and started walking towards the fence that Penny had hopped. It remained quiet as hungry groans filled the air. Pippin realize Penny was trapped in the backyard and she quickly got up and started banging her spear against the metal of the old car, regaining the attention of the lumbering creature. It turned it's eyeless face to her and picked up it's pace. It stumbled and tripped over the car Pippin was initially hiding under and she quickly dove away. Penny hopped the fence again and snuck over to Pippin and they both crawled under the deck of a porch until the creature regained it's balance and shambled off. The zombies in the backyard Penny had jumped into we're still groaning but the monster paid no attention to them.

They wanted for what felt like eternity until Mama Williams slowly crept out of from behind the bush and went to the porch that Pippin and Penny hid under. "Are you alright?" She whispered and they both nodded. They quietly crawled out from under the porch and began their trek once more, now more cautious then before. Dart had crawled off of Pippin and hid under a rock until the panicked moment was over. Once they began walking he quickly scurried up Pippin's leg and onto her shoulder. There it used her long hair as shade so it didn't get overheated as they walked. Now it was time start searching for either the boys or Dallas.
