“You already had your chance, he has clearly moved on. Please let him move on completely from you so he can be happy with my daughter.” 


“There seems to be a misunderstanding. I’m not trying to get him back. I only let him back in my life not for myself but for our daughter.” 


“Yes, it’s just that things have been rather different since you came back. I’m starting to worry for Valerie.” 


I didn’t know why somehow I feel annoyed. Knowing I might say something hurtful, I took a few seconds to myself and breathed in and out to calm myself before responding “With all due respect, ma’am. There’s nothing between me and Drayce. If he happens to come by and visit, it isn’t for me. It’s for our daughter.” 


“Then can you guarantee that nothing will happen between the two of you? Romantically I mean?” 


All I have to do is reassure her that nothing will ever happen to us but how is it that my mouth couldn’t push out the words?
