Chapter 45 - Wanting What You Dont Have

“How are you here?” I ask as the rangers make sure that no other dangerous animals are around while Jeremy sat next to me.

“There was a warning from the rangers that a bear was close in the vicinity and is walking along the trail to the waterfalls. Billy got scared since you hike on your own that I couldn’t help but overhear as I eat my breakfast.”

“Oh… thanks,” I said.

“Everything’s good now.” The ranger said to us. “Can you walk? Are you injured?”

“I think I’m fine,” I said but soon as I got up, I felt my leg aching along with my shoulder and hip. I suppress a groan of pain when Jeremy noticed me.

“What is it? What’s hurting you?”

“M-my ankle. It hurts.”

The ranger kneeled in front of me. “May I?” He said gesturing at my right ankle. I nodded. He didn’t waste time lifting the hem of my pants and taking off my shoes.
