Chapter 50 - Perhaps a Second Chance

It’s a dark cold place when I suddenly hear Mara crying loudly. It began as a muffled cry until my hearing became better and realized that she is hysterically crying.

I wanted to open my eyes, lift my head and see her but my body feels so heavy and weak that I can only partially open my eyes.

It breaks my heart to hear her cry but I couldn't move.

I wanted to hug her and try to calm her down when I suddenly heard a familiar voice trying to pacify her.

“Everything’s going to be alright, apo,” Dad said calmly.

I know this…

This feels like how I was years ago…

When I focus my eyes, I realized that it is.

I’m laying on the cold tiled floor with my limp and injured body while Mara still cries in my father’s arms.

No… I don’t want this…

I don’t want this again…

When I finally opened my eyes fully, my body is covered in a cold sweat as I pant.

It was a nightmare.

A nightmare that came from memory.
