Wild Vegetables

Chapter 021 Wild Vegetables

The sunlight was seen seeping through the gaps in the wood. Anindira woke up from her deep sleep but Halvir was no longer with her. This was the first time Anindira woke up alone, without Halvir beside her.

Anindira immediately got up and opened the window, bringing more warm sunlight into the house. The fresh air made Anindira sit on the window sill and lean comfortably looking around the room.

A house with two window frames on the right and left sides extending towards the main tree trunk. There were two doors in front and behind. A very spacious residence for a tree house. Inside it felt empty because there was only a bed and five large chests where Halvir kept some valuables and clothes.

''Where did Kak Halvir leave me without saying goodbye?'' asked Anindira, ''Maybe because this is home. No need to be afraid of wild animals...'' Anindira continued, ''But it's okay. I'm still not ready because of what happened last night.''

Anindira continued to mutter to herself.

''Why did he do that?!'' Anindira kept talking to herself in a frustrated tone in the empty room where only she was. Her face turned red, blushing remembering Halvir's quick kiss last night, ''He's never done anything like that before...''

''Ahh...!!!'' Anindira screamed in a chaotic manner, ''It's embarrassing, let it be, let's just clean the house!'' Anindira exclaimed then, she diverted her thoughts from last night's incident.

Anindira who was still nervous, remembering last night's incident, kept muttering while trying to do what she could do. When Anindira went out of the house, she looked here and there. She just realized something that confused her.

''How do I get down?!'' Anindira asked, complaining in frustration. Climbing trees was nothing new to her. But that was in her world, while in this world who knows what the plants here have absorbed to grow as if they had no limits. Almost all of them are giant. The distance between the branches is too far, it is impossible for Anindira to jump over them. Each main branch has a diameter of more than ten meters, so a house that big can proudly perch on it.

''You idiot!'' Anindira shouted in annoyance, ''Used to being carried. Now, when I am left alone, it's hard. If this is how it is without a man, it's clear that you can't do anything by yourself in this world.''

After walking back and forth looking for a way to get down, satisfied with whining and complaining alone.

Finally, Anindira gave up.

Anindira decided to clean the house with makeshift tools. She broke a small twig from a branch behind the house, to sweep the floor and clean the dust and also some cobwebs that had formed here and there. All the doors and windows were opened to replace the stuffy and humid air that had been trapped in the house for a long time.

Some time later, smoke was seen billowing from below. Anindira carefully looked down. Anindira didn't know who was below because, from a distance of about fifty meters, it was impossible for her to know who it was, but her heart reflexively said that it was Halvir.

''KAK HALVIR!'' Anindira exclaimed, calling him very happily.

Hearing Anindira's voice calling him, Halvir immediately went upstairs to pick her up.

''Kak Halvir, why did you leave me?!''

Anindira was impatient and immediately complained when Halvir had just set foot towards her.

''I went hunting,'' Halvir answered while carrying Anindira down, ''I went hunting for a while. Because there are blankets in my house, so you won't be too cold if I only leave you for a few hours. Besides, it's still summer now,'' Halvir continued, ''In this village, you will be safe in my house. No one will dare to break into my territory.''

''Um,'' Anindira nodded in response to Halvir, ''Kak Halvir, are you very hungry?'' Anindira asked, she suddenly made a strange face when she saw Halvir's hunted animal.

''I'm hungry. But, what's your reaction?'' Halvir asked with his expressionless face, while roasting the meat of his hunted animal whole and spinning it over the fire, ''I also took some wild vegetables and fruits that you usually eat in the forest. I've cleaned it, eat it! You said those leaves go well with fatty meat.''

''Um, thank you. This is to give a little flavor and balance the vegetable intake. I can't just eat meat. I need vegetables and fruit. The wild vegetables here taste better than where I live. Usually I don't eat them unless I have to. But the quality of the wild vegetables here is really the best, I can even chew them without any accompaniment,'' Anindira said while devouring the tree leaves that Halvir brought.

Halvir was surprised to hear Anindira's words. He immediately looked at her and held her hand that was about to eat another leaf.

''That means these leaves are not the ones you usually eat?!'' Halvir exclaimed, but sounded like he was scolding Anindira. Still holding Anindira's hand, ''You were just forced to eat it, not because you liked it?!''

Anindira's words just now sounded as if Anindira had no choice. She ate the food because she was forced to. A *Sapphire likes him, of course, that made Halvir upset.

''Let go!'' Halvir exclaimed while slamming Anindira's hand that was still holding the leaves, ''I'll give you what you usually eat. Don't eat the food you are forced to eat!'' Halvir exclaimed firmly, warning Anindira, ''I am more than capable of giving you if it's just food!''

Halvir clearly scolded Anindira this time. Halvir's face showed an annoyed expression at the vegetables that Anindira was holding.

''Ha?!''

Anindira was surprised and didn't understand why Halvir was acting like that.

''Didn't I tell you not to hold back your desire for food!'' Halvir shouted again, ''Tell me, I'll find it for you right away!''

This was the first time Anindira saw Halvir clearly showing his emotions. While still holding Anindira's hand, Halvir insisted that she didn't want Anindira to eat the leaves again.

''Huft...'' Anindira sighed, seeing Halvir, who looked emotional only at the wild leaves that he had picked himself, ''Okay.''

Anindira gave in to Halvir's attitude of not wanting to be considered incapable of feeding a woman.

Anindira released the vegetables from his hand, putting her finger to her mouth. Narrowing her eyes, intending to tease Halvir, who looked funny with his annoyed expression.

''Anindira!''

Halvir firmly warned her.

''Kak Halvir,'' Anindira called softly, ''I'm not holding back my desire for food. Really. I'm not lying, I'm sincere in saying it... Why did you only listen to my complaints? But, you didn't even ignore my compliments?... I said, I don't usually eat it if not because I have to. That's true... But Kak Halvir ignored the compliments... The quality of the wild vegetables here is the best, they taste delicious...'' Anindira continued explaining with a proud face of the vegetables in front of her, ''Do you understand?''
