Chapter 027 Confession
Anindira was silent. She did not answer Halvir's words.
Halvir lifted Anindira but did not lower her from his arms. He changed Anindira's position. Changing her from being carried like a father carrying his toddler, now Anindira was sitting on Halvir's lap, who suddenly sat cross-legged on the ground with dry leaves scattered on top.
Anindira immediately lowered her head. She was awkward when Halvir's face was suddenly in front of her.
''Dira!'' Halvir showed his assertiveness when calling Anindira, who tried to hide her face, ''Look at me!''
Anindira reacted to Halvir's call, but she still looked down, trying to avoid looking at him.
''You're not the only one who can get angry,'' Halvir said because Anindira still didn't respond to him, ''I can too, you know that, right?!''
Still, like before, Anindira was reluctant to respond to Halvir.
''Dira. You probably don't know... Not many women can talk to me as freely and honestly as you. Your honest attitude in expressing what you feel without wrapping it up in a complicated way is a character that I admire. Your courage to express your anger to me is also something charming about you...''
DEG DEG DEG
Anindira's heartbeat got faster hearing Halvir's seduction, who was coaxing her.
''Why is he like this?'' asks Anindira in her heart, ''He's not like usual... is he flirting? Am I just being too excited?!''
''Am I talking to myself?!'' asked Halvir.
A few moments waiting for Anindira's reaction. But the silence made him impatient. Halvir pinched Anindira's chin gently, lifting it slowly so that Halvir could see Anindira's blushing face.
''This is better. Finally, I can see the black eyes that always look at me when talking. A sincere gaze full of courage that does not hesitate to look directly at my eyes.''
''Kak Halvir is just flirting with me...'' Anindira replied in a sulking tone.
''Um,'' Halvir nodded with a smile, ''I am indeed seducing you.''
''For what?''
''Obviously to persuade you.''
''I know that! But why persuade me?''
''Dira,'' Halvir called while gently stroking her cheek, ''We are on our way to the village chief's house. I will entrust you to him. My journey to the Lion Kingdom is not as far as the *Forbidden Forest. But that short journey will be tiring if I always feel anxious.''
''I'm sorry, Kak Halvir. I got a big head because you were so kind. I will try not to add to the burden...''
''Stupid Dira, that's not what I meant!'' Halvir exclaimed immediately, scolding Anindira.
''Kak Halvir, it's not like that... Sorry, I messed up earlier... I've troubled you a lot. You've done a lot for me. I will try harder so as not to burden you even more. I will learn more so that I can be more independent so that I don't continue to depend on you, I...''
Halvir stopped Anindira's words by gently bumping his forehead with hers.
''Shut up, or I'll kiss you again!''
Halvir's words immediately made Anindira close her mouth.
''What's a burden? You're not my burden at all. Your needs, your requirements, are my responsibility,'' Halvir replied while continuing to stare at Anindira, ''Why should you be afraid of making me a bother?! I don't know how your world is, but no matter how well you know everything about this world now or later. Trust me that you still won't be able to be alone. Because even I need help.''
''Kak Halvir, your actions, your words, do you like me?''
''Does it still need to be asked?!''
''Of course. I have to be sure that you are expressing your feelings... your love... for... me.''
Anindira stuttered a little at the end of her sentence.
''You didn't realize it?!''
''What?''
Halvir was silent. He just stared at Anindira as if he wanted to make sure of something, but he also became doubtful.
''Could it be... Is it because Dira is from another world?! Does *Imprint not apply to her?! That means, I misinterpreted... But I'm sure if it's a real *Imprint...'' Halvir muttered in his heart, thinking about whether his actions were right, ''Whatever, whatever! How Dira feels, that's later... but my feelings are already too clear. Besides, if she doesn't have feelings for me, why would she be jealous of Zia?!''
''Yes. I love you... I want you. Therefore, to prepare all our household needs, I'm doing this now.''
This time, the silent Anindira stared at Halvir with a blushing face. She heard all of Halvir's words, but her mind seemed blank.
''I said what you were trying to make sure of. But now, you are the one who is silent and not giving me any clarity.''
''Sorry...'' answered Anindira, who was surprised by Halvir's reprimand.
Halvir remained silent and did not answer. He stared at Anindira as if he wanted to convince her to say her feelings without hesitation.
Anindira blinked awkwardly. She seemed to understand what Halvir's gaze meant, but a feeling of shame bothered her now.
Halvir remained silent and waited for Anindira while continuing to stare at her.
Of course, the handsome face of the dashing young man who was holding her made Anindira extremely embarrassed. But Halvir remained stubborn and did not let Anindira escape with his gentleness in embracing Anindira.
''Kak Halvir was mean to me...'' Anindira complained resignedly.
''Where did I mean to you?'' Halvir asked, deliberately teasing Anindira, ''Explain, so I can fix it!''
''I feel ashamed of your confession just now. At least let me...''
''No. I don't want to... I'm scared.''
''Kak Halvir is scared?!''
''Um,'' Halvir nodded in response with a sad face.
''Why? What could I do to scare Kak Halvir?''
''You'll break my heart.''
''That's impossible!''
''It could be... the proof is, you didn't answer me right away.''
''It's not like that... it's just... I'm not used to things like this... I understand, but it's still hard to accept. In my world, girls my age wouldn't think about things like this... we might get into a relationship, but not for something serious like this. I know what you mean. In my world, it's marriage. But we who are still teenagers wouldn't think about that.''
''So you don't want to?!''
''I don't know...'' answered Anindira hesitantly.
''Then, did I misinterpret your jealousy of Zia?''
Anindira was surprised by Halvir's straightforwardness. She also knew that it was jealousy, but saying it directly confused her. How she wanted to deny that very embarrassing thing.
''Isn't that enough to show your feelings for me? But why do you still want to run away and not admit it?!''
''Kak Halvir,'' Anindira called firmly with her eyes glaring at him, ''For your attitude just now. Any woman would feel annoyed.''
''I don't understand that... I told you that most women can't get close to me.''
''Um,'' Anindira nodded, ''That's why, if this were my world, I would reject you.''
Halvir's eyes widened when he heard Anindira's words. His chest felt like it had been hit by a large rock, making it seem like he couldn't breathe.
Anindira was also surprised to feel Halvir's reaction. Anindira, who was looking at Halvir's eyes from a very close distance, could feel how disappointed Halvir was.
