After the hug, Angelica and Nicholas sneaked out of the palace. The guards saw them leave the palace but they didn't stop or chase after them. Angelica knew this wasn't ordinary. She looked at Nicholas who was busy riding the horse, and she smiled. Finally, she was going to leave her home and go far away. Far from worries and dangers. She tightened her grip around his waist as she hugged him from behind. She felt warmth and peace with this strange guy with her.
"What are you doing?" Nicholas asked her and Angelica didn't reply. she shut her eyes close as she enjoyed the rhythm of his heartbeat.
"I can't concentrate, Princess! I feel goosebumps on my skin" He complained but Angelica remained adamant.
"I love the rhythm of your heartbeat," Angelica said slowly as she smiled. Her mind wasn't with her, she felt like she was in heaven. This guy means everything to her. Nicholas was dumbfounded. Does a heartbeat sing songs now? What exactly is this girl? Nicholas didn't know what to say, he had no choice but to concentrate.
"I love you, Nicholas," Angelica said as she kissed his back.
Queen Pamela entered Angelica's room to wish her a birthday but to her surprise, Angelica wasn't on her bed.
"Happy birthday to you!" Pamela sang as she opened Angelica's bathroom room door but she wasn't there either.
Pamela opened her eyes wardrobe, perhaps she was hiding in there. She knows that whenever Angelica was angry, she would hide in there and cry to her satisfaction. Pamela was shocked. Angelica wasn't there and her clothes looked scanty. Pamela hastily left the room and went into the sitting room. Kind Gerald was having a meal with his visitors.
"The kingdom isn't destroyed today. Praise the heavens!" The Duke said and the other visitor laughed as they drank their wine. Gerald couldn't say a word because he felt uneasy now that Angelica has come to learn about his plan.
"Gerald? Angelica is not in this palace!" Pamela raised an alarm and all the guards stood before her. Gerald looked stunned just as everybody was.
"Are you about this?" Gerald asked again to confirm. Angelica has never had the audacity and the courage to leave the palace without anyone knowing and besides she hates leaving the palace because people hated her. Someone must be behind this, but who? and today's her birthday!
"I've searched in her room but she isn't there. Her clothes are not intact and neat. She packed a few clothes and left the house" Pamela ranted. No! Her only child can not be missing.
"Send all the armies to go and search out for her. She must be found before dawn. I'm sure that she hasn't gone far. she doesn't even know the way around this kingdom. Go now and search for her" Gerald ordered and movement began to take place. The neighing of horses and their gallops were heard.
Gerald and Pamela panicked in fear as they didn't know what to do. Pamela's finger was in her mouth as she menacingly looked at Gerald.
"My daughter must be found. You caused all this. You!!" Pamela showered him with her anger. Gerald gave her a questioning look.
"Don't pretend that you don't know what I'm saying. If not because she learned about your selfish plan for her, she wouldn't have run away from us." Pamela voiced out and Gerald was silent. He didn't want to do anything to complicate the issue. The problem on the ground is already too much, so he didn't want to add more by exchanging words with her.
Lucifer halted in a small apartment almost 27 kingdoms away from King Gerald's kingdom. The duo hopped down from the horse as they walked into the house. Angelica was utterly confused because she didn't know what to say. She couldn't remember anything from when they started their escape. Angelica wanted to say something but the right words weren't coming in.
"We will stay here in the meantime. I didn't plan for this anyway?" Nicholas's voice startled Angelica who was fighting with her internal dilemma.
"How did we get here and how far are we away from my father's kingdom?" Angelica confusedly asked and Nicholas grinned. He truly looked like the devil, his personality and everything about him. What a strange man!!
"Were you asleep or you are the type that gets carried away? You were busy listening to my heartbeat and forget that we are escaping to somewhere we will reside as foreigners or should I say, strangers?" Nicholas stared at Angelica who was just 2 inches away from him. Angelica looked away as she scratched the back of her neck. She tried to remember something but to no avail.
"How far are we?" Angelica asked because it was already dawn. Nicholas smirked at her childish action.
"We are 27 kingdoms away from your father's kingdom," Nicholas said casually and Angelica's eyes widened. She couldn't believe her ears. How could they get here in just a day?
"H..how come?" Angelica asked and Nicholas chuckled.
"What's important is that we are far away from your father's destructive hands. You planned this, right?" Nicholas raised a brow and Angelica hesitantly nodded her head.
"Good girl" Nicholas patted her head as he grinned. Angelica folded her lip forming a straight line.
"Let's sleep. I'm tired" Nicholas carried Angelica in a princess style. He took her to the room and laid her on the bed. He lay beside her and shut his eyes close.
"Nicholas?" Angelica called him and Nicholas hummed and his eyes were still closed.
"You won't leave me right?" Angelica asked as she bit her lower lip. Nicholas smiled.
"Why?" Nicholas smirked as he asked her.
"Be...be...be.b..because....." Nicholas stood up and stare at her. Angelica silently bit her finger as she stare into his golden flame's eyeballs. Nicholas raised a brow as he stared at her.
"When did you become a stammerer?" Nicholas asked with a pouted lip and Angelica became shyer.
"I love you," Angelica said and Nicholas's jaw dropped. His brain had shut down and his spirit temporarily left his body. Ironically, he was lifeless at that point.
