CHAPTER 14

I asked myself this question all through our date. Ethan was well-mannered, handsome, clearly financially stable, and a great communicator. We had the best conversation over a sumptuous meal. It was too one-sided to be called a conversation because I did more of the talking. He told me about herself and I volunteered next to nothing about myself.

I didn't mind. I enjoy listening to him, I wasn't ready to let anyone get to know me yet.

He was 26 years old, and the only child of his parents. His dad was a politician, and his mum died when he was young. He worked with one of the top law firms in the country. We didn't notice the time go by as he shared his childhood memories and made me laugh by recounting his experiences as a teenager. We finished our meal, talked some more, and then drove back home.

"I had a nice time, thanks," I said as he parked in front of the house.

"The pressure was all mine," he replied.
