CHAPTER EIGHTY SIX
It's the sound of running water that reaches my ears first.
The next thing I notice is the burning sensation on my wrists. I can feel the cold metal against them and whatever the slimy substance lacing the metal is, it's very painful.
I open my eyes dazedly and I realize that it is night time. I am lying on the ground, tied up, my face turned in the direction of the tree line. However, I can see the orange glow of a fire behind me.
It takes me an instant to remember what had just happened.
I hear footsteps and I quickly close my eyes, pretending to be unconscious.
A booted foot nudges me and I force my eyes to remain closed.
“Bitch really passed out bad,” Comes a rough voice.
“Enough, Darius,” Comes a calm voice which I immediately recognise.
It’s the vice of the red-eyed man.
"The longer she stays like that, the better. It’ll be easier to transport her.”
