CHAPTER EIGHTY NINE
(WIP)
Aliya looks tired, her face pale, but her eyes are filled with a burning fury.
Th panthers surround the men, boxing them in and when one of them tries to shoot at them, he is the first to be attacked.
I transform back, my knee feeling weak and I collapse on the forest floor.
Lucas steps in front of me, protectively.
The leader of the man studies his opponents and then he looks towards the sky. There are streaks of light in the sky, indicating dawn.
He looks back at us, his face tense.
Aliya is moving her hands in an intricate manner, her lips moving so quickly that I can't tell what she’s saying.
What I do see is that the man with the red eyes who had forced the poison in my mouth is looking agitated. His group is clearly outnumbered and I can see his eyes dart around for any escape route.
I struggle to get to my feet and Lucas moves closer to me. I grab a handful of his fur to stabilize myself.
