Chapter One Hundred and Nine

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND NINE

Something tight curls up in my chest at Mara’s words.

I don’t like it.

However, I’ve also realized that if I want to survive in this place, I can’t allow myself to be pushed around. Even if I’m punished for it, in a place as barbaric as this, I need to let them know I’m no weakling. Even when I know there’s a good chance I’m physically not on par with them.

“If Damien has a problem with me using his name, then he can take it up with me,” I snap. “I don’t care who you think you are.”

I see Mara’s cheeks flush at that and I feel something is odd about that.

But then when I blink, her cheeks are back to their normal pale color and she gives me a smirk, “You really do talk without thinking of the consequences, don’t you?”

I sneer at her, “I don’t care what you think or how many opinions you want to pull out of your ass about me. Just stay out of my way and leave Rina alone.”
