“So, we’re just going?” I watch Damien as he moves about the room, looking for something. “What about the castle? After what happened the last time, do you really think it’s a good idea to leave it alone like this?”

“I trust Fera.”

I scoff, “So you say.”

He stops what he’s doing and gives me an incredulous look, “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I mean,” I sit up, glaring at him. “You and her are skirting around the issues between you two, like two bulls in a ring. Neither is willing to engage. You won’t apologize for how you treated her all these years and she won’t put her faith in you again.”

Damien looks uncomfortable, “She doesn’t want me to apologize.”

“How do you know?”

“I know her.”

I stare at the man my heart now beats for, “You’re a coward.”

“Hey!” Damien growls at me. “Watch it!”

“Or what?” I shoot back. “What’re you going to do? Not apologize to me?”
