I NEED ANSWERS

Aida sat down at the dining room table. A maid served her food and delicately placed the plate in front of her. Aida absentmindedly prodded the chicken with her fork while holding her palm beneath her chin. Many thoughts ran through her head. Everything that happened today is it connected to the dream? Why was that man trying to kill me?

Lupita noticed that Aida hadn't touched her food. It was unlike her. She had instructed the chef to make Aida's favorite meal to distract her but it wasn't working as Aida seemed to be lost in thought.

"Aida! Aida! Aida!" Lupita banged the table jolting her back to reality.

"Aida, why aren't you eating? Normally you would have gobbled down two plates but you didn't even touch the food. Is everything alright?"

Aida had no appetite. All she wanted was answers to the raging questions she had.

"Mum, can ask you some questions?"

"Yes," Lupita said between mouthfuls of rice.

"I want you to be honest. Who am I? What happened to those three girls? Do you know of a place called Danva?"

Lupita choked on her food. She reached for the glass of water and drank the whole content. She had been thrown off by the last question. How does she know about Danva?

"W... well, you are Aida Khai, the daughter of Lupita, a famous billionaire. Those girls were expelled because they were bullied in case you forgot and the answer to your last question, I've never heard of a place called Danva."

"Mum." Her frown deepened into a scowl. She was not pleased with her answer. " I know you weren't given the details of what happened in class so I'll give you a briefing. I got angry, there was a thunderstorm. My hair shone as bright as the sun, my amulet was glowing and the shocking one of them all, I was throwing the girls around like they were pieces of paper. Let's not forget the burning orb."

"Aida, you've been stressing yourself a lot lately that's why you've been hallucinating. I noticed you stay up late reading and don't get enough sleep that's why your brain is playing tricks on you. I know your finals are around the corner but you don't have to stress yourself." Lupita was digressing from the topic at hand but Aida was having none of it.

"Mum, stop trying to change the topic. You do this every single time. I'm not hallucinating, I know what I saw. Strange things have been happening to me lately, things that are beyond human understanding. No normal human being can do such things. Adele and her minions had injuries on their bodies. All of sudden the injuries were all gone. How Is that possible? Aida gave her a death stare.

"Those girls didn't have injuries in the first place, you were there when they confessed that it was a lie so why are you questioning me?

"Kehlani and I alongside the whole class saw those injuries, if Kehlani and I are seeing things, the whole class won't."

"Aida, your behavior is concerning, you'll go see a psychiatrist tomorrow. I'll have my assistant schedule an appointment."

"I'm not crazy." She banged her fists on the table startling Lupita. "Don't pretend like you haven't noticed all the things that have been happening of late. Sometimes I wonder if you are my real mom." She spat out in anger.

Lupita got up visibly shaken by Aida's utterances. "How dare you say such a thing to me? Who is putting nonsense into your head?"

"No one!" Aida stood up, her eyes glistening with anger. "Mum, when will you stop lying to me? "You said my father was killed by his enemies, I don't think I have a father in the first place. You've never shown a picture of him to me. All you do is keep coming up with flimsy excuses when I ask about him."

"Aida! Stop this nonsense at once. If you've been listening to someone I suggest you stop it and rid your head of that trash. If you have something important to discuss with me then you should come to speak with me in private and not spew nonsense in front of our helpers."

"It's not nonsense, I need answers. My life has become a puzzle with many pieces missing. Mum, do you know how it feels to be taunted, I might have everything at my beck and call but I can't feel the void in my heart. People laugh at me because of my hair, my coursemates don't want to have anything to do with me! They all think I'm some kind of monster."

"Aida, you shouldn't listen to them. One thing you must come to terms with in life is that people will always have something bad to say about you."

"Their hate towards me is justified. What normal being causes a thunderstorm? Flings her coursemates like they are pieces of paper by just raising her hand? The burning orb? Let's not forget the curse, anytime I say something bad to someone out of anger, it comes to pass. I've mentioned just a few from the long list of weird and unexplainable things."

Lupita was in a tight spot. There was no possible explanation she could give to Aida to convince her.

"I had a dream, a mysterious woman who had snowy white hair like us kept telling me I was the key, only I could save Danva. I have a staunch feeling that you know what I'm talking about, My intuition never lies." Aida said.

Could it be Queen Natiya? Lupita muttered under her breath. " If so that means Queen Natiya is alive! She rejoiced inwardly.

"Aida, your intuition is deceiving you. Aida, you need to rest, first thing tomorrow morning you'll go see a psychiatrist before it gets out of hand."

"I'm not crazy." She yelled. "Nothing is hidden under the sun, I'll find the answers myself." Aida stormed off.
