As Real As You And Me

"WHY DID YOU ABANDON US!"

"I...I didn't."

"LIAR! TRAITOR!"

"Please stop this."

"KILL HIM, KILL THE TRAITOR!"

Nightshade was having a nightmare, stuck in dream of his former friends, all pissed he'd "Abandoned" them when he gave his life protecting his successor.

He jolted awake, alerting Euphrates.

"Everything alright?"

"Yea, just a nightmare."

"We can..."

"I don't want to talk about it."

"Alright, no need to get snippy."

The Demon and Summon sat awake in the early hours of the morning, letting Gell sleep. The two didn't say a word for hours, the sun had just begun to peak over the horizon as they sat there.

"Look, I don't want to pry.."

"So don't."

"Hear me out at least."

"Fine, what is it?"

"Our young master is the kindest person I've ever met during my time in this world. If you need to talk, talk to him, don't lie to him."

Nightshade nodded, as Gell yawned and stretched.

"Morning you two."

"Morning Master." they both replied.

"We've got a full day ahead so lets get back home as soon as we can."

"Yes Master."

The Party packed up their campsite and headed back into the Kingdom. As they entered a few nobles passed Gell and spit near him. Euphrates got between Gell and the Nobles while Nightshade blocked them from getting close to them.

"If it isn't the orphan who doesn't know his place."

"Watch your tone human!" snapped Euphrates

"Well, well, if it isn't the two nobles on the verge of bankruptcy, must be hard lying to your supporters." retorted Gell

"Why you little..."

As one of the noble's tried to punch him, Nightshade caught his fist.

"I'd chose your next move very, very carefully Noblemen." stated Nightshade bending his arm till it pained the Noble.

"Ow, Ow, OW! Alright! You made your point!"

Nightshade let go as the two nobles backed off and ran away.

Gell smiled and continued walking, picking out items at the market.

It was mid-day before they returned to the mansion, inside Nightshade unpacked their supplies while Euphrates helped Gell upstairs to rest. Five minutes later, a loud knock at the door brought Nightshade to the door.

"Can I help you gentlemen?"

"We are the Royal Guards of the Kingdom. Is your master home?"

"He is resting, so you have me. What can I do for you?"

"For the charges of injuring a noble, Mister Gell, last heir of the fallen Tallor bloodline, has been hereby exiled from the Kingdom effective tomorrow morning."

"WHAT!" yelled Gell from the top of the stairs.

"They attempted to attack him." stated Nightshade.

"They are of Noble status, and this commoner will learn his place.' stated a guard.

Nightshade looked to Gell who was in tears. Turning back to the guard he began closing the distance between them. "I request an audience with the King."

"HA! Surely you jest, the King has no time for commoners, let alone a commoners' summon."

Nightshade swept the guards feet from underneath him, causing the other guards to raise their weapons.

"Now I'm not asking." stated Nightshade as his armor assembled on him, aiming a blade at the guard on the ground.
