"Rose's Bakeshop," Lina echoed into the telephone the moment she answered it.
"Evelina,"
She stiffened when she heard his voice on the phone.
"Mr Hudson," Lina called out in shock surprise. "How did you get this number? Your sister, did she—" She trailed off, her eyes darting around the store in search of Alice. She saw her breaking and uninstalling the bakery shelves with one of her staff.
"No one gave me your number. I stole your business card from my sister."
"Of course you did," Lina muttered, returning her attention to the call.
"I couldn't help it." He said, his voice low and deep, and Lina could hear his smile. A quick image of it flashed through her mind, and she shook it off.
"Why are you calling this morning? If it's about your services and payment, I told you I'm not interested." She was still seething from his suggestion about her 'payment in kind' at the party.
"Have you received it?" He asked, confusing her.
