Back to the Present – Kai’s POV & Bai Georgi’s POV

When the buzzing in Bai Georgi's ears finally stopped, he came back to his senses. Georgi looked at Kai and said: "No right, Claire wouldn't do something so insane?" Kai could hear from Georgi's voice that he wanted to convince himself of the fact that Claire wouldn't hurt Bai Lang. However, Kai knew Georgi and he knew the sound of his voice. The question Bai Georgi asked and the way his voice sounded already showed the doubt he held towards Claire.

Bai Georgi however quickly heard Horrus Kai rain down on his parade. Kai in the time in which Georgi had his head buzzing had considered quite a lot. He shared these thoughts with Georgi. When Bai Georgi heard Kai's analysis, he had to say Kai really did analyze the situation well. Bai Lang would indeed not sacrifice his life for Claire. After all Georgi had noticed before that Bai Lang didn't seem to have any feelings for his "so called" fiancé. Bai Georgi also didn't notice it before, however now that Kai mentioned it, it was indeed very weird that Claire bawled her eyes out because of Bai Lang's death. First of all because Claire didn't seem like the type to show weakness in a public space and secondly because Claire didn't seem to have any goodwill towards Bai Lang at all.

If Bai Lang died because someone plotted against him, he would never forgive himself. He should watch over his brother, and he already failed that task. The fact that he a military commander couldn't even protect his little brother under his nose felt devastating to him. Not simply because it was a blow to his pride, but also because he again realized how much of a failure he really was.

Georgi wondered out loud if Bai Lang might still be alive. Horus Kai however felt like that couldn't be the case. Since Claire could tell him Bai Lang was death, she would have made sure he stayed death. If she had indeed plotted against Bai Lang. Bai Georgi however wasn't ready to believe Bai Lang was death and still held on firmly to the believe in his heart that Bai Lang would be fine.

Kai couldn't know that no matter how good he was at intelligence gathering he miscalculated Claire's thought process in this situation. Simply because he found Claire to be a very smart woman. Horrus Kai figured Claire wouldn't make a basic mistake like pronouncing someone death who really wasn't. It was too easy to find out that it wasn't the case. However, Kai didn't account for the fact that, while Claire was indeed very smart, she looked down on Bai Lang very much. Therefore, Claire miscalculated Bai Lang's skills, because she simple figured Bai Lang had non and therefore sentenced him to death in her heart sooner then she would have done with people who she had average opinions off. If the situation which happened next didn't occur this miscalculation would lead to Claire's demise. God however seemed to work in Claire's favor in this case. Therefore, even though Bai Lang wasn't death nobody would know he wasn't.

Bai Georgi had just told Kai that he had this feeling his little brother was still out there. Therefore, he would go back to the warehouse to see if he could find traces of his brother and if he couldn't find him then Bai Georgi would bring his body home for burial. Kai was trying to convince Bai Georgi that it was too dangerous to go back out there alone. Especially since night was falling. Paradise was already dangerous enough in daylight, therefore the dangers during nighttime's in Paradise were unimaginable.

Bai Georgi stood up from his chair and said to Kai: "I am determined I am going out there to look for my brother, I can feel he needs me". Kai got up as well and responded with a sigh: "you're not going out there on your own. If you really want to go, I will go with you". However, before they could walk out the door something happened. Claire came barging into the room without knocking.

Claire was surprised to see they seemed to very calm and seemed to be having a normal conversation. Seeing this Claire secretly heaved a sigh of relief. Claire hadn't yet realized that they were doubting her. After all, the more serious Bai Georgi got the calmer he seemed. This was part of his character cultivated by the military. He had learned even if you are emotional or afraid, you shouldn't show this emotion to others. It's impossible to never be afraid or have raging emotions, but you should internalize it, never show it. Don't let it become you are weakness. So, even though a storm was raging inside Bai Georgi when he saw Claire, he showed absolutely nothing of it on the outside.

Although Bai Georgi wanted to strangle the woman in front of him, he took a breath and asked: "What are you doing here, especially just barging in without knocking." He heard Claire respond with "Chief I really didn't mean to disturb you, but we need to move". Before he could ask "why the rush?" Claire told him: "we need to move, because Frigaryan's got into the building".

Frigaryan's were mutated strawberry plants. That doesn't sound terrifying. However, what was terrifying was how they had changed into carnivores' plants. The Frigarya still grew their fruits. The plant vines and roots however had turned bloodred from all the blood it consumed. To grow their fruits those roots, and vines needed to absorb a lot of blood and flesh. The more fruits the Frigarya had the stronger it was. Therefore, it needed to absorb flesh and blood to gain strength, because it consumed flesh and blood to grow you could smell a Frigarya from pretty far away. The more blood and flesh it consumed the stronger the roots and the vines of the Frigarya and the farther the vines could reach.

If you would pick the fruit of a Frigarya fruit it would look like a mix of bloodred and purple. The fruit would taste like eating raw human flesh. At least that's how it was described by some people. The squad Georgi was part of never tried to eat it, since it were fruits grown and cultivated by consuming blood and flesh from monsters and humans. So, they simply never tried eating it.

Worse thing about the Frigarya was that it wasn't stationary. It could use the entire reach of the vines to grab any prey. If the prey near the Frigarya died out the Frigarya would simply re-plant their heart seed. Which would let the Frigarya abandon his roots and cultivate elsewhere. After re-planting the heart seed, it would only take about 30 seconds for a new plant to be cultivated. In those 30 seconds it took to re-plant and regrow the Frigarya was at its weakest, because a Frigarya could only be killed by killing the heart seed.

The Frigarya which broke into their HQ however was a very strong one. It vines could rush all over HQ. The only way to be safe was by abandoning the whole building. They could come back later to the building, because Frigarya usually moved on fast after not having prey in a certain location for about 48-hours or even faster.

Bai Georgi again shouldered with the responsibility of the lives of everyone took up his task right away and pushed aside his worries for his brother. "Let's go, evacuate!" He pushed a button and a light flashed in every hallway of the base. Another great installation his brother did he mused. Sound attracted most monsters in Paradise so having light signals was a lot safer.

He returned to his team and helped them load everyone into cars. He ran back and wrote a letter to his brother. He just had a feeling his brother was out there and if Bai Lang returned, he wanted him to know where they were. Although Georgi actually didn't have any time and should be focusing on evacuation, he for once wanted to put his brother first. So, he quickly wrote down: "Bai Lang if you see this a Frigarya broke into the base, we will try to find a temporary base and will be back in 5 days". "Keep yourself save, so I can come for you. Your brother Georgi".

Kai noticing that Bai Georgi wrote a letter. He figured it wouldn't make any difference since Bai Lang was already dead. Kai didn't say anything however and helped Bai Georgi take care of the evacuation. Georgi put the note on the table and turned around to get in the car. Again, retaking his role as commander and organizing everything. Never noticing that some people still hurrying towards the vehicles bumped against the table causing the paper to fall behind the table. The paper got stuck between the wall and the table, out of sight. Never to be seen by the person who it was written for. Being one of the causes why Bai Lang decided to abandon his faith in humanity. If Bai Lang had seen the letter everything might have changed, but then again life doesn't have ifs.
