Misery 3

"Is he still there ?"

It was the highest floor in the building in which William cause a scene.

Normal people might only see this room in dramas or movies. It was clear from the furnishings that this was the president's office.

The apartment was spacious, and there was a plush sofa and a coffee table for welcoming guests.

The executive desk and chair were then set up in front of the big window. On top of the desk was an expensive nameplate.

It was engraved with the title and name of the president.

The person behind the chair was a middle age man.

He appeared to be in his mid-40s or early-50s at first glance.

He was actually in his late 40s, just looks like every middle age man. He did, however, take care of himself.

As a result, despite his old age, he still had a lean body and firm skin.

He had a finely formed face and was of good height. He could be rated as an eight or nine on a scale of one to ten. He had a pleasing appearance that others would notice.

His slightly cocked eyes were the only flaw in his otherwise perfect face. He seemed cruel as a result.

He was the building's president and owner.

Juan Dela Cruz was his name, and William had been frantically attempting to contact him.

" Yes!"

Juan's secretary immediately replied respectfully.

Juan made a tongue click.

"He needs to be planning how to resurrect his gaming career. Why the heck is he here creating a scene?"

William saw Juan as a trusted boss however Juan betrayed him and didn't show any mercy.

*

William was sitting in one of the cafe's seats.

His appearance was very different from how he had appeared in front of Juan's skyscraper.

Only a few days had passed, yet already he didn't appear to be invalidated.

He had showered, shaved his mustache, and dressed in clean clothing. The scruffy polo shirt is nowhere to be found. But he was unable to conceal his disturbed heart.

His cheeks appeared a little lanky. But because of this, he somewhat resembled the younger self of Keanu Reeves, and the women surrounding him occasionally cast sidelong glances his way.

Ding!

As the cafe door opened, the bell rang.

William's face lit up as he turned to face the entryway.

A lady entered the coffee shop. She wore a billowing pink one-piece dress and appeared to have applied some makeup.

She wore a lot of jewelry. She wore necklaces, rings, and earrings that were set with priceless diamonds. She appeared to be very extravagant. She was still gorgeous, though.

She appeared to be in her early 20s at a first impression. Under her eyes, there were wrinkles and lines, though.

She was older than she appeared to be, as evidenced by this.

William extended and raised his hand to make it known to her where he is.

She looked at her surroundings with her chin held high. She had an almost haughty, snobby appearance. She was aware that William was there.

Tak! Tak!

The tapping of high heels on the floor.

Most of the male customers continued staring at her because of the model-like way she walked.

Some couples quarreled when their partner was discovered to be sneaking looks.

She and William, however, paid little attention to their surroundings. They were accustomed to these responses.

" Hi."

William appeared delighted as he greeted her even though he appeared dry. She set her handbag on the seat in front of her before sitting down.

The handbag featured a well-known brand's emblem, which was even sparkling.

" Do you want to drink a cup of coffee?"

" I'll buy my coffee don't bother with it. I know you're short on money."

"But I still have my ways to buy my girlfriend a cup of coffee."

William slightly raised his voice because his pride had been hurt.

Her name is Sophia Fernandez. She is William's girlfriend.

They met each other during their high school days. They are well-known couples on campus because of their looks. William is tall, athletic, and has a handsome face. The campus beauty queen is Sophia so they made a good-looking couple fit for each other, and everyone envied them.

William is so proud to have Sophia as his girlfriend.

The only thing that could be considered a red flag in her is that she asks and spends too much money from William.

William didn't think much about it in the past because he was making money from being a gamer. As a man and as her boyfriend he thought that he must give and provide anything that she want.

"It's fine, I'm not hungry or thirsty."

He had no idea why Sophia had been so distant from him today. She cast a glance at the vacant desk in front of him.

She stood.

His cheeks slightly flushed, as if she was criticizing how he was at the moment. He quickly shook his head to get rid of his shame.

"That's right. She is doing this for me."

The truth is I don't have enough money now.

William gaslighted his own self by thinking that Sophia is doing it for his sake.

Sophia returned shortly afterward carrying two cups of coffee. She pushed one in William's direction.

"Thanks."

William silently took the coffee cup in his hand.

There was a lot of condensation all around the cup because it was a cold iced coffee. He ignored the fact that his hands were becoming moist as he played around with the cup.

When it came down to it, he hadn't even bought coffee for himself despite having claimed to have enough money to buy his girlfriend a cup of coffee. He didn't want to spend money in vain.

He sucked on the coffee while holding the straw to his lips. The coffee was icy and unpleasant. Sophia drank her coffee through a straw as well.

"So what's the reason you called me here."

Since William's career went down as a gamer, he doesn't have any earnings and was in a lot of debt. He also put Sophia in a lot of trouble because of his debt. So he wanted to spend some time with her.

Sohia set her coffee cup aside. At the impact, the cream on top of the brown coffee splashes a little and speaks first.

"Let's break up."

She spoke icily as if she were severing their relationship's last thread.

" W-wait...What?"

William repeated her statements while displaying a confused expression.

"...Break up?"

"Yes let's break up."

Sophia talked without any emotion, unlike the agitated William. William was put in a bind by her words.

" W...Why are you suddenly doing this?"

William stood up suddenly. The betrayal of his boss and the collapse of his gaming career had brought him to the brink.

The statement from Sophia was akin to the death sentence for the man.

"Sit down."

As she spoke, Sophia checked her surroundings.

The other customers were paying attention because of William's outburst. As they fixed their gazes on the two, half of the cafe's customers expressed surprise while the other half expressed curiosity.

But William wasn't in a mood where he was preoccupied with other people's looks.

Sophia sighed as William failed to see that he was ready to sit down. As she stood up, she scooped up her bag.

"Let's go outside."
