After the battle I was fading In and out of consciousness as the blood loss lulled me to sleep while the pain would wake me up, all I remember is different parts of the forest before waking up in the tent.
Feeling my neck I found a fresh bandage along with some stitches, as I was reaching up momo entered the tent and gasped at the sight of me awake and rushed over to me and started checking my injury while explaining that I had only been unconscious for a couple of hours, she was shocked at how quick my recovery was but I just explained it away as another quirk of this world, as long as you have enough food you can basically heal from any wounds, not that scars won't remain and that a doctor is never needed but a person's vitality is far higher.
After reassuring momo that I was fine she allowed me to sit up and I could see that outside the tent was still a jungle, at a quizzical glance to momo she explained that while we were in the jungle she had set up some traps and had hunted a few of the surrounding beasts in preparation for staying here for a few days, not that we really needed to now.
Momo had made an electric hotplate along with a solar panel in order to cook without making smoke and attracting attention, so she cooked up some of the meat she gathered and we had a nice meal, it was surprisingly easy to eat considering my injury but there was still enough pain that I didn't gorge myself like yesterday.
While I rested at Momos insistence she used the rest of the meat to start producing various pieces of metal, nothing too bulky as we still needed to carry it back to the shore but the more she makes now the less she will have to make later.
We ended up spending the night in the forest camp, partially due to my needing to rest and partly due to not wanting Momo's work to go to waste, It was an eventful night with a trap being sprung every now and then but nothing big enough to shrug off the traps approached our camp. When morning came I was finally allowed to get out of bed and didn't have too much difficulty moving around, although the pain in my neck was a constant reminder of my folly.
We had a quick breakfast consisting of the small animals that were caught in the traps before heading back to the village.
Along the way I could tell that something was weighing Momo down, after a small amount of prodding she suddenly broke down crying and as I comforted her she revealed that although she was trying to be careful when fighting the thug leader she believes that her final hit was probably fatal, it was the first time she had taken a life and I had to take a moment to register that I wasn't considerate of the thugs lives at all, I was using my devil fruit to it's fullest and I wouldn't be surprised if I killed a dozen of them. I paused for a moment as Momo stopped crying and locked eyes with me, seemingly sensing my thoughts, as I got lost in her eyes I was able to push past the guilt and rationalise my actions as not only just since they were surely horrible people but also necessary as in a world as chaotic as this it is very much kill or be killed, there were few instances of Luffy leaving someone alive only for them to grow stronger and attack him again but that's still something I would rather avoid. This allowed me to reassure Momo that yes she had probably killed that man, but it would probably not be the last time she would be forced to kill, this world is full of many cruel beings that won't hesitate to kill you and if you hesitate that could be your downfall.
After we both calmed down we were able to make it back to the village without any trouble where we then went along the coast a little to a small inlet and set up camp. It was slightly more permanent this time as we would need about a week for momo to make the boat parts and then for us to assemble them.
The next week was fairly uneventful, we spent most of the money on the best map we could, the rest of the money was used for food so that Momo could constantly produce parts. When it came to assembly it was fairly complex so all I could do was tighten some screws and help with moving the parts, Momo did all the electrical work and in the end, the number of gauges and readings covering the dashboard was amazing.
I also spent some time training my reaction speed using a system of pendulums, I would at first simply try my best to avoid them but gradually I started reflecting them with my paws and then I repeated the process only blindfolded, the blindfolded training didn't amount to much but I knew it would be needed in time.
By the time the boat was finished I was fully healed, all that was left was a large scar which might end up helping with my charm ability. We launched the boat the night before we would leave in order to make sure there were no problems, It seemed good in the morning so we took it around to the villages dock after loading up our food and camp, the villagers were amazed at our boat enamoured by its full metal design and spacious bunks while still being compact, a few of them tried to read the dash but were just as lost as me, We loaded up some fresh water from the well and said our goodbyes, although we only stayed a week we still befriended a few of the locals and were welcomed back anytime.
