Chapter One

Kael looked at the people seated at his table. As Alpha to a very large shifter pack, he has had to remit every move and action he takes, all these under the guise of it being for the betterment of the clan. Now, they are at war and these senile old men are here fighting for meagre benefits to be gotten when even their Luna, his mate, is heavily injured and is recuperating. They have no contributions to talk about and the enemy is bearing down on them with a vengeance, but here they are. He stood up, which seemed to catch the attention of these goons.

"I will retire to my quartets shortly, this meeting will be adjourned to the evening and by then I expect us to have a solid plan in place to fight back against these warlocks who, we all know is after our kind. Any mistakes caused by negligence will be dealt with the highest court order", he said sternly while beating down on them with his aura as Alpha.

It seems his words had effect as they all bowed their heads, or maybe it's because of the compulsion he put them under. He didn't care, he had a mate to care for

...

Kael looked at the destruction before him and sighed. After everything, they still lost. He had managed to send some groups comprising of some of the more promising youths with the children away. And now they were here for a last stand. He looked down at his mate, she was on her last breath. She is the reason why these pests attacked their kind. The legendary white wolf, a myth they say but she was real as day. They thirst for a power they do not know of. Destroying the lives of more than ten thousand shifters for a myth. He hoped they got their just desserts but now he needed to get his mate's body to the ancestral land. He couldn't allow these pests to get to her. Not even in death.

...

Andrea swam with all her might but the water seemed to have no end. She couldn't remember what lead her there or where she was heading to but she knew she had to swim as hard she could. She saw land and swam towards it but before she could get there, she blacked out.

...

Kael arrived at the catacombs and lifted the overly complicated contraption to open it. He carried his mate and walked to the deepest path of the catacombs. Normally, a person would get lost in this maze, with the danger of the underlying traps, it would take a longer time to get to where he was going to. However, as Alpha, they had a path made for them alone without the excess fanfare and he took that path today. Using his wolf speed, he moved through the turns and tunnels like a phantom, to enable him get to the deepest parts in the shortest time possible. He got to the end of the tunnel and stopped. He had to because before him was a door, it was old and rusty, smelled of old magic. He whispered in the tongue of their ancestors, and as he said the last sentence, the door shook, like a wet dog shaking the water out of his fur. It opened very slowing and with minimal noise, to reveal a passageway flooded with light. He walked in and realised the light was coming from the many gems embedded in the walls, floors and roof of the tunnel. He ignored these things though and walked further into the place, till he arrived at a hall, with an altar, very well decorated with jewels too. He walked up to it and laid his mate atop the altar. Immediately, the intricate designs on the floor of the room lit up like the had batteries in them. He moved further away from the circle of the altar and watched as it lit up, for a moment he was temporarily blinded by the lights. He didn't know what to expect when he came here, he only knew he couldn't let those warlocks get to her. When his sight cane back to him, he anxiously looked at the altar only to find nothing. Agitated, he spat out a mouthful of blood, he felt his connection with her break away, the pain made it hard for him to breathe, but, he didn't fight it. Instead, he let it take him, he really couldn't live without her.
