Chapter 9

Trey looked up at the shadow blocking his view of the field, it was that annoying girl again.

"What exactly do you want from me, pestering me, I'll wonder if you were a bee in your past life? Just buzzing here and there, no offence to bees but what you do is irritating", he was already tired of this chase.

"Trey darling_", she blinked her eyes repeatedly like she was trying to use her eyes to swat him away.

He cringed in disgust

"Say whatever you want to say and leave this place", he scowled

"Seriously, do you think I find it fun chasing after you like this, you don't even give me the time of day"

"Since you do know that, what exactly are you doing here?"

"I was tasked to send you an invite to Town's party. As a very popular guy, Town and his clique decided you were worthy of an invite and since I am an expert at finding where you are, I was given the task",she rolled her eyes at him.

Trey couldn't, for the life of him, understand the logic of some Muggles. One day they act like you don't exist and suddenly once they do realise you do exist and is making an impact, they suddenly deem you 'worthy'.

"Okay, where is the invite?', he acceded

She handed him some kind of mediaeval age invite with the seal and everything. He looked back at her, but she was already gone, so he just placed the invite in his bag.

He stood up and returned to class.

...

Terrence stood by the mirror, Lily came up behind him and helped him knot his tie. He noticed she was frowning.

"Lily, what is it? And don't tell me nothing, between your brows is a sign that something is on your mind, please do tell me"

Lilly looked at her mate. She had always been a very wild young lady, until she met him and got mated and married, according to the trend then, he was her 'tamer'. She became a wife and then a mother, all these responsiblities and she knew she had to tone down a bit just for this man. But these few years, she has begun to wonder if somehow, somewhere everything just changed. He became so obsessed with power, he forgot about his wife and child and now he is off to see a human business man. He had been going out a lot lately, coming back smelling all smoke and alcohol, not that it affected her, wolves are born stronger anyway but she had this gut feeling that something was wrong somewhere. She had told him but he brushed it off, seems to her like he was so confident in his strength he forgot there was always a higher power. And she really couldn't stop him, she looked back at him, he was looking intently at her. Mates always felt the feelings of their loved one, she wondered if he truly understood what she felt, because if he did he would not go out tonight, especially tonight

"Don't be agitated, Lily. Have faith in your husband. Nothing could possibly go wrong tonight", he tried to coax her

It wasn't working one bit.

"Take more guards with you, Terrence", she raised her head up to meet his eyes

"Doesn't that mean I am scared? As Alpha I don't need to fear an ordinary Muggle you know", he smiled that crooked smile of his filled with confidence

"Even the greatest man do fall. There is always a weakness", Lily chided

"What are you trying to say, Lily?", he sighed

"What I am trying to say is that you should not put yourself in harm's way, besides having more guards doesn't mean anything. We hire them, we pay them, so it's only normal for them to do their jobs. Don't tell me you opened a charity? Just think of me, at least so that my mind can be at peace for a second, please?", she tried her best to convey her feelings through their link, that was the only way she could think of to reassure herself a little as she knew that telling him outright would only backfire.

He looked down at the petite woman gazing up at him, with her soul in her eyes.

He remembered their earlier years, especially when he had just met her, how his heart beat so furiously, like it was about to come out of his chest. Even now, albeit tampered down a lot, his heart still beat just as ferociously. He understood her fears, but decades of being in power had taught him that only those with power had no fear and the power he held right now, in this town specifically, was more than enough to put fear into others not him.

"Okay, I'll take more guards, but they will remain outside and I will only go in with my personal guards", he said

Lilly had no choice but to agree.

She looked at him and prayed fervently to the goddess to keep him safe. It's a gamble if she heard that prayer or not though.

...

Trisha walked down the hall leading to the main living area, she was lost in her thoughts. She thought back to before she went to see Sister Andrea.

"Trisha, you do remember you have an appointment today?", Rosa said to her youngest.

She has ways wondered where exactly Trisha got her personality from. Shy, never meeting people's eyes, always looking like a servant. Sure, she inherited her body, which would have looked stunning if she had any idea what to do with it. She was always with one book or the other, ranging from science to myths to economics, she just couldn't fine where her interests lay, like a wandering soul. She looked at her and sighed

"Just prepare yourself, Otto will drive you there in an hour, alright?", she shook her head

"Yes mom."

That was how she got to see Sister.

She looked up and saw her brother, the infamous Henry, known for being a first class jerk and an arrogant young man. Stupidly arrogant, if she might add, all those people around him, ways mocking him behind his back and he still doesn't know. Or maybe he does but he just wants to keep up illusions. Well, good luck to him

"Well, well, what is our little rat monster doing alone, wandering the halls? Must be lost again aren't you?", he mocked her

She just shook her head at him, hiding the disdain in her eyes. She has never been lost before. Between them, he was more inclined to lose himself along the way but she didn't even have the energy to correct him and just played along. Even the nickname arouse from the fact that she loves to hide around the place, snooping at one thing or the other.

"Good afternoon, Henry."

"Quite been polite Sherlock, how was your sister-in-law?", he smirked as if already expecting an answer.

She simply walked past him, she wasn't going to waste her time with him anymore. Whatever he wanted to know he could ask Sister not her.

He pulled her hand sharply, releasing his alpha pheromones in a bid to suppress he, as an Omega all she could do was stand there and choke while cursing him in her heart. After some time, the suffocating feeling wore off and he repeated the same question

"She is doing well. There are no males around her except for her enforcers too", she rubbed the back of her neck still feeling a lingering fear. She always hated this feeling and one day she would overcome it, she promised herself.

He left her there after getting the answer he wanted. He has always prided himself on being the one who got the girl, and he wasn't going to tolerate any mistakes.
