Chapter 10

Andrea was called to her mother's room. It was odd since it was in the middle of the night, but getting closer she could feel the atmosphere wasn't right and her guess was right because as she went inside the bedchamber, she saw her mother's flaxen face first and then the shabby clothing and a scarf around her neck. She pinched her brows in frustration wondering why her Mom called her.

"Mom, I-", she was cut off before she could continue

"Your father was captured " the next thing she asked was

"Who would dare?", Yeah she had that much confidence. To her, her dad was almost a legendary being so how could mere mortals kidnap him. This was like the most hilarious thing she ever heard. But this fantasy was cut short because her mother suddenly wailed. It was a keening sound which meant she was in great pain. She didn't know when or how her mother got hurt though she rushed to her.

Lily gripped her daughter's hands like they were a life saving straw. She could feel Terrence pain through their bond and it was excruciating. She couldn't bring herself to imagine what he was going through. After some time the pain lessened and she looked to see Andrea looking at her with tears in her eyes. She was brought to tears again as she felt so bad. She knew the signs, all the red flags and warnings but she didn't properly approach her husband and now he was gone.

"Mom, where is dad? Can you feel his position through the link?", Andrea was beyond worried but she knew she needed to keep calm and figure out a way out of this

"I can't h-hear him or f-figure out where he is. Something is interfering with the link. But I know he is in terrible pain as I, I can feel every ounce of it. Terrence is hurting so bad and I can't do anything to save him",Lily choked on her tears, crying sorrowfully

Tears gathered in Andrea's eyes. This is her father too and watching her Mom hurt like this, she knew her father was going through a lot.

She called in the guards and asked them to get her enforcers, she could only use her own crew since even her father's beta haven't been seen yet which means he is either dead or captured alongside his Alpha.

Nick, Pete and Sergio were the only ones who came as she knew Parker must have gone back to the Gray Hide Banes to report about her whereabouts.

She had long since known that Parker was a spy sent by Trisha's mom, but she didn't care. She looked at Nick as he was the only one with enough experience and he didn't disappoint.

"We need to search for contacts he made during this short time frame",

"He has been meeting up with the current head of the Smith's family. ", it was Lily who replied. She had managed to gather herself since she couldn't feel the pain from the bond anymore, which means that whatever they doing they had stopped for now.

Andrea looked at her mother and smiled. She knows how strong her mother is and so all she did was squeeze her palm in a bid to give her mother some courage to speak.

" He had said they were going to meet up at the old clubhouse".

"I had begged him to take enough security detail but..", she covered her mouth to hide her wails while shutting her eyes tight as if trying not to remember.

Andrea looked up at Nick and through the pack link requested for an urgent meeting.

Carl came back to Madfur Claws pack and went in to see Jeffery. He has almost become a regular here that the Alpha felt like he was trying to integrate himself with them.

Carl was simply looking for a paid job.

"Hey , where is the boss?", he said looking very roguish

"He is busy ", Andrew rolled his eyes at him.

"Well, I came here looking for a job", he continued

"We don't have any spare jobs for you", Carmucheal was the one who responded this time. His Alpha has been hiding away from this Muggle since he always pesters them and he was getting irritated.

"But, I know one vacancy. You see Ellen's team needs a mode of transportation that is convenient for them. Having to take the bus or subway to go catch a banshee isn't always good. And so I decided that they needed a ride. And besides my payment is quite cheap if you look on the bright sides", he grinned like the cat who got the cream.

'Jeff, get yourself down here and attend to this human'

'No, why?'

'Well, he has come up with something that I can't think of an excuse to reject him. Just get down here'

'Urgghhh'

"Well, Mr. Huxley, you can take a seat while I go get the boss", he said to the human and sped out of there at the fastest speed he could muster without it bordering on abnormal.

Andrew looked at this Muggle and couldn't make any sense of why he insisted on being acquainted with them.

He knew that they were a bunch of weird people but this guy upped the ante.

Carl looked around and found a cosy seat. He wants a place to at least belong and school wasn't the answer. He knew skipping classes will cost him but he didn't care. His brothers had to go though, someone needs to keep up the honour.

Just as he was enjoying the refreshments, courtesy of Andrew since Carmichael ran away, Ellen came in. Obviously, she must have come to give a report.

"Hey, Ellen", he greeted her trying to be friendly since he wanted to be their driver.

She looked at him like he had a screw loose.

'What is he doing here?', she asked Andrew through the link

'You better ask him, I think he is trying to be friendly, he just greeted you didn't he?'

'But, I don't think we should encourage that. What happens when he finds out what we are?'

'That's the Alpha's problem, am outta here ', Andrew waved goodbye to Carl and signed out.

Ellen turned to look at the human drinking her Alpha's expensive tea and shook her head.

"Good day to you too Mr Carl"

Carl decided to keep shut for now so as not to agitate his first customer. He wanted this job, not only for the money, but he wanted to know the strength of this pack. He didn't mind that they had a misconception about his specie since he had intentionally concealed from them. He thought back to the witch he met before. She had told him that their meeting was fated, he scoffed at that, after facing betrayal from his beloved uncle Jean Koff and almost half the pack, he always had this insecurity around people expect his brother.

Jeffery strode into his office bumping into Ellen startling the vampire which showed she was in deep thought. He looked at his visitor, exchanged pleasantries causing Ellen to jolt out of her reverie.

"A-alpha, I-I didn't -", she stuttered trying to acknowledge her Alpha, Jeffery waved his hand in dismissal and told her to leave. She bowed to him and walked out almost banging her head against the door. Carl raised his brows thinking Ellen was quite clumsy if only he knew he was the cause.

"I heard you wanted the job of driving our team members?" Jeffery said to him breaking him out of his reverie

"Yes, but just Ellen's team as I am acquainted with them already which will make it easier to work together"

"May I ask why you decided to come work for us?"

"Well, for one, I need the money and two, I am interested in all things supernatural. Just take it as I am a very curious person"

"I understand. After I attend to Ellen, I will ask my assistant to take you to see the members of the teams. Don't worry, it's just so that I can write down a contract during that time frame"

"No problem, boss"

Carl was pretty much satisfied with himself today as what he came out to do was very successful.
