Carl and the team drove at the fastest speed possible. Ellen had received an alert from one of her familiars. She had sent them almost halfway downtown to source for information regarding supernatural things. And now they got feedback.
He was peacefully having tea, yeah, with a few dainty biscuits, which looking at him, burly and all, is very contrasting, but he likes it better, when he received a call from Judy saying they needed a ride, a fast one. And now, he is speeding at above the speed limit towards the Eastside, where the signal was sent from. Thank the moon goddess the car was well equipped with magical things so they were invisible. He wondered how rich Jeff's pack is, they hide pretty well.
On the way, they picked up the twins, Sandy and Andy. They had stopped at a drug store to buy painkillers, he didn't believe them. They were wolves, no human painkiller could affect them, but again, they were all weird people.
"Drive slowly now, we are almost there", Judy said while fiddling with his computer
"What are those things? They look like super large birds of prey", Sandy said excitedly.
These twins were always excited over the wrong things.
"Those are Witches, low level powers, there are like the dogs of the underworld, just higher than the demons. Something must have attracted them, they smell powers the way dogs smell blood", Judy said
"Dogs huh, very befitting. Though I heard there are also higher level witches too. How do you explain those then? They don't feel like dogs to me", Carl mentioned
"Yes, just the way the underworld is hierarchical, the witches also have elders too. And they can be very powerful too. Like the White Witches of Eastwood", Ellen explained
...
While they were taking their time understanding their quarry, two people were in a staring contest. Andrew was getting pissed off from the stalemate, he didn't get angry as he expected himself to be though. Anytime anyone made mention of his stature, he beat them up. Added to the fact that he could read minds, you couldn't even say it in your mind. However, the vibes he was getting from this Muggle was a bit off. He couldn't quite catch it, even his thoughts were pure, which is weird. He knew for sure, that this person had come up here because of the fluctuations, he wasn't sure if he could see the witches. He felt a barrier around this person's mind, he could only see the surface, in fact, he could only feel his immediate feelings and responses, other than that, it was nothing. He looked away from those eyes, but not before noticing the deep chocolate pigment of his eyes and the fact that he looked handsome.
'Tch, he looked away. I thought he was going to probe me further, guess I am not interesting enough', Trey said to himself.
Ever since he blurted out that sentence, he felt strangely apprehensive, like he should apologize or something, but he pushes down that feeling and tried to gauge the Omega in front of him. He looked just as he said, but he felt a very powerful feeling from him, seems he had immense powers, weird for an Omega but not particularly overwhelming, his scent though was confusing, like he was trying to mask it but was doing a very bad job of it.
What Trey didn't know was that, Andrew had masked his scent quite well, normal wolves will not perceive he is an Omega at first, the scent was meant to confuse them, however, for abnormalities like the Huxley's, it was a very half-assed job.
He looked up into the sky, the witches kept prowling around the area. He heard a familiar engine revving and looked at his left, baffled he saw their truck ambling down the street at very high speed, it looked strangely modified, which was also a wonder as he knew they didn't even have enough to eat. Before his elder brother could catch sight of him though, he snuck back into the bar. He then bumped into a wall, or so he thought. That was Hugh, he was sent by Rima to look for Andrew.
"Excuse me, have you seen a guy, quite petite, he is wearing a black and white polka dot shirt?",
"Yeah, he hailed a taxi and went home. He looked strangely apprehensive like he forgot something. Why don't you wait for him? I am sure he will be back soon", Trey smiled at the wall.
"Uhhh, alright. Thanks for the info", Hugh went back into their room to relay the message.
Trey left the bar, after asking a very beautiful waitress where the back exit was. He didn't even bother to inform Eon and Kai, he knew he would only see them the next day at school, and for the so called persons that invited him he didn't care what they thought.
...
Carl felt a puzzling feeling, like a familiar kind of energy. It washed over him and was gone in an instant, he couldn't figure it out because it came and left too quickly, he was pulled out of his thoughts by Judy's statement.
"They are here for something. The witches aren't hurting anyone, they are just circling around the place. I can't feel anything though, we will have to search manually for whatever is it that is disturbing them, that's the only way we can get them to disperse as they are worsening the magic fluctuations in the area", he said.
"Alright, let's go. Sandy and Andy will go together, the rest of us will pair up", Ellen said looking pointedly at Carl
He smiled at that, he didn't mind that she didn't trust him, it has been like that since he went to meet their Alpha with the job proposal. Though he was currently on a three-month probation, he figured it was just mere formality.
Judy walked ahead of them, this time fiddling with an iPod, he was able to reason that they were using radio waves to track the fluctuations or something.
"Hey, you guys are late", he heard a familiar voice. That was Andrew, the Omega assistant.
"Yeah, we were halfway across town when the signal came, but we came as soon as we could", Ellen explained their tardiness
"Yo, Andy", Carl grinned at him
"It's Andrew, Sandy's twin is known as Andy, short for Anderson", he bristled
Carl laughed out loud at this, they had been having this argument since yesterday, this Omega was so easy to tease that he couldn't help but continue.
"Be alert, I can sense something, but it's inside the bar", Judy notified them.
"The bar? But I couldn't sense anything", Andrew said
"The fluctuations are been masked by something, possibly a talisman, if not for the direction the eirches keep looking at I wouldnt know where the signal was coming from. But we have to search the whole bar. Ellen, please call back the twins, we need as much help as we can get"
"Andrew, could you please secure the place, we won't want any human happening on us", Ellen asked
"Sure thing"
Raising his hands, he began to chant. Andrew is half Warlock, his mother's father was the one with the powers. Though he couldn't fully access them, but it was enough to get by.
He decided to cast a sleeping spell over the whole bar, which would last for 4 hours. He figured it will be enough time for them to finish up here. He also didn't forget to cast a barrier shielding the place against external forces too.
...
Rima was getting anxious. She always felt that Andrew is a very unique person, he is rarely flustered by anything, like he is always in control. So when Hugh came in and told her that he had left urgently, she couldn't quite believe it.
"Hey, Rima relax. Andrew will call us if he gets home or something. He won't get lost. You know how tough he is", Jin coaxed her, trying to get her to drink with him again
"I know, but I feel strangely apprehensive. Let's just go home", she said worriedly
Just then, she began to feel lethargic, before she could question the feeling, she fainted, but not before noticing that both Jin and Hugh had fainted too.
...
They walked straight down to the elevator leading to the basement, based on the logic that shady things like these were always done in the basement.
"This bar has 8 floors from the building plan, why is it showing only 7 in the elevator", Sandy said
Judy fiddled with his iPod and once again showed his technical prowess. The elevator jerked and began to move sideways, after sometime it went downwards again and stopped, it opened and they looked out of it only to see a wall.
Andy immediately stepped forward, feeling along the wall, searching for a contraption.
Click!
Brrrrrr!
They heard a whirring sound and the wall moved. They immediately rushed in fearlessly, they are supernaturals, so they had nothing to fear, even silver bullets, since they had a Warlock with them, a simple wind spell could work wonders.
"It reeks", Sandy held her hand to her nose. As wolves, their sensory organs are highly evolved, and so the smell of blood in this room was nauseating, which was evident because Judy began to gag. Ellen, however handed him a plastic bag, figures it was a normal occurrence.
They searched around the dim room, until Carl found the light switch. Light flooded the room and immediately they saw it.
In the very centre of the room, was a demon summoning pentagram. Andrew cursed. The blood had dried up, but you could tell the quantity needed to draw that huge pentagram was plentiful and firm the sleek it was human blood.
Judy choked on his breath while pointing to a corner of the room. They found human bodies littering that corner, about 15 of them. Ellen's eyes reddened, she was always of the mindset that the supernaturals were given their powers to protect the weaker species not hunt them.
Andrew immediately threw a ball of fire at the corpses, they were incinerated almost immediately. Judy got himself together after the ashes dispersed and helped the twins search the rooms. They found a door and saw that it led to an underground tunnel. Andrew stayed behind to undo the spell on the ground, with Carl as his bodyguard while the rest of them went through the tunnel.
After walking for a very long while, they came out at an alley leading to the city Square, they knew they had lost their quarry and so they headed back to the bar. Andrew and Carl finished their part and Andrew sealed the place up, after which he restructured the memories of everyone in the bar, including the bar owner.
"I'll be leaving now, my friends will be anxious", Andrew told Ellen the moment he saw her.
"No problems, thank you for your help. I will send the report to the boss now", Ellen replied
He nodded and left immediately. Carl drove them back to the pack house.
He didn't enter with them and instead went back home.
