HOPELESS.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Wayne Dyer.

Adora's pov.

It was useless, all of it, the trip, the bodies, the injuries all useless, no clues no lose ends completely nothing, It almost seemed "normal", but I knew better than that, Oh! I knew a lot better than that having been the perfect killer once, but my hunch wasn't enough for this investigation. Tony seemed dejected, still staring at the bodies of what were once happy, and healthy werewolves. two males and a beautiful female or what had remained of them and even though the bodies had been fully preserved in ice the stench was still unbearable to me.

My talk with the injured girls was fruitless, none of them remembered what had happened before that, they all woke up in the hospital after their respective mates had found them injured, Aaliyah one of the victims was found in the bathroom, passed out and bleeding from both hands, back scratched and with claw marks on the neck, but no one else was at sight, no sign of breaking and entering, no unfamiliar scents in their house, no unmatched prints, nothing and if the other injuries had not been visible one would have thought hat she had wanted to end her own life, Zoe and Lily were found in their backyards, different injuries each on the legs, and arms, but they all showed no signs of struggle.

The who, why, how were all un answered, the only similarities being that they had been attacked just a few minutes before their mates had arrived meaning whoever had done it did not want them dead, in fact they wanted them very much alive to ensure that the message was received loud and clear, but to whom exactly we didn't know at least not yet, was it a threat to the alpha?, the mates? I massaged my temples a bit, my legs were beginning to itch for a run and as dangerous as it was, I was seriously beginning to consider getting one.

"Adora, Hey, they are here." Daniel's voice broke me out of my trance, "Ok, " I nodded a thanks and followed Tony and him to the meeting room, where the three men were sat waiting for us, "Hello" I greeted, "Hello miss," they replied in unison, and exchanged greetings with Tony and their Alpha too. "I believe your Alpha already informed you of your mates" I asked and they nodded, they were in their mid and early twenties, no bad records of them, they were all normal and content members of the park and had nothing in connection to whatever had happened to their mates.

"Well, but did he tell you about the rogues." I heard Daniel growl at the mention of the rogues as I watched the men look at each other in confusion, "What rogues, miss." Roger, Zoe's mate asked and I smirked a bit at his question, I could already feel the tension in the room and Daniels heart beating just a little faster, well we all know what they say about secrets, you can never keep them.

I could feel Tony's stares at me, probably wondering whatever it is I was trying to do, but not interfering because he trusted me enough to know I would never sabotage a mission, none of us would, ."Well, weren't called in to investigate the injuries of your mates, we were actually called in to collect and punish the culprits of the attack, five rogues who managed to sneak in while the guards were exchanging their shifts, they may have stalked your mates for a while before deciding to hurt them, we'll be taking them in custody with us tonight, for questioning , and its all thanks to Daniel here, your may all go on to living your lives like before, security has been tightened and you are all safe, for now at least." I finished with a fake smile on my face as I watched the tension from the men's faces disappear, smiles replacing them.

They thanked as, more so their alpha and he gave them a pat on their backs each as they left, "Why?" He asked after the men had left, "Because sooner or later everyone is going to find out about the rogues, now you have backup, you clearly aren't ready to tell your members about the bodies that you and your wife discovered while going for a night run or walk, I don't know which one it is, and they needed a solid reason for the attack of their mates, and we just gave them one, you're welcome"

"How did you know all that?." He asked surprised and Tony rolled his eyes at the question, "Oh please, Alpha, It is so obvious that the guards are not aware of the rogues, otherwise they wouldn't have left us alone with you, also the reaction of your wife earlier gave it all away, she was horrified even though we all know you're an alpha and you can take very good care of yourself, no pregnant she-wolf would jump in the middle of the fight like that, we protect our babies more than anything, unless she was scared of something else, and again if you would have found the bodies at daytime you wouldn't have brought them here, especially if it had happened twice, your pack is only calm because they are clueless and we wouldn't want to ruin that now will we?." Tony answered smugly, turning his head sideways for dramatic effect, and I smiled at his response while Daniel shook his head no.

"But what if I won't be able to...."

" You won't because there will be no next time, this is what we do Daniel, your only option is to trust us or not, your choice in the meantime we'll send a couple of under cover agents to live in the pack, this is no longer your problem, you weren't the target, they wanted our attention and we'll be giving it to them, All of our undivided attention." Tony re-assured him with a huge evil glint on his face that clearly spelt war.
