Chapter 8

Setting up campfires wasn't much of a deal for Tristin and his friends. In less than an hour, forty camp fires were lit.

Students never went to bed, making it an easy problem for them to get out of their tents for campfire night when they were alerted.

"It's the first campfire night Hampton! Get out of your tents, and come over here" Tristin yelled.

Hampton High students did just that.

"Now, we get into groups of ten. Good news is, we don't have to do that ourselves. The school database has done the job, so all I gat to do is call out names. I'd start with the first group, which will take places around that campfire over there"

(Students were feeling itchy, eager to find out which group they would fall under)

"Aidan Butler, Teresa Murphy, Hunter Simmons, Juliana Bell, Harold Bryant, Kathie Patterson, Johnny Evans, Rose Hicks, Luna Jenkins, Tristin Martinez...what, how did I...it's okay. So, I'm clearly in this group" Tristin read out.

"You guys should take your places around that campfire. I'd be there in a sec. I've got to call out the others"

It gave Luna chills that she got to be in the same group as Tristin Martinez. She fantasized about herself being in the arms of Tristin, getting warmth from his thick arms. She knew no one else in her group, and it didn't bother her. All that mattered was, she got to be in Tristin's group. Hurray!

Luna sat there, looking straight at the bonfire right in front of her. She folded her arms, and watched as the wood kept burning. They were waiting for Tristin, which might take a while, so Luna got herself thinking.

(Hi Luna. I see you're in Tristin's group, which is perfect. I mean, it's all you ever wanted, to be in a class with him, but you never got into any classes with him, coz of course, he's in 12th grade. But right here in camp, things are different. It seems everyone could see themselves as just teenagers hanging out, rather than with those tags high school made for us. So, here's what you have to do. Show off your vocabulary, and style. Speak up first, show everyone how confident, elegant, and classy you can be. I'm pretty sure Tristin will notice) Luna stopped thinking when she saw Tristin stroll towards them. Boy, this dude was hot as fuck.

"Hey guys, sorry I took so long"

"It's entirely fine. I mean, you were like, doing your job as the students rep. anyway. Good job by the way. It's amazing how you pull it off" Luna said, freaking out inside, but having a calm expression.

Luna could be imperturbable when she wanted to. This coolheaded personality of hers was impressive. Some girls wouldn't have been able to say more than two words when talking to their crush for the first time, but Luna was able to even construct a sentence.

"Wow. Thanks...uhmm"

"Luna. Luna Stoermer Jenkins" she said, extending her hands.

"Uhmm. Luna is just fine. Thanks anyway. No one has never really commended my work" Tristin confessed.

(Way to go Luna, well done! One point for Luna Jenkins, and more to come. Keep up with this, and he might even consider you to be his lady)

"So, let's get to the reason why we're all here. We are simply here to talk, share moments with each other. Moments that made you scared, happy, sad, or depressed. Just major happenings that you wouldn't just tell anyone. Who would go first?" Tristin asked.

(Come on Luna. This is another chance. But what do I talk about - my sad ass life where boys treat me like an invisible piece of shit, or my super douchebag of a brother who has made it his daily job in making my life hell. Hmm) Luna thought.

"I'd go first" Aidan volunteered before Luna could get her thoughts together.

"Alright. Let's hear you out man"

Aidan's facial expression read pure fear, he didn't want to open up. But what he was going through was tearing him apart, and this was just a perfect opportunity to speak up.

"It's okay Aidan, you can share it with us. Nothing we discuss here goes out of this circle" Tristin assured.

"I'm gay, or maybe not. I'm just not certain. Yeah I can't seem to make up my mind. I noticed how I felt around boys, how I felt excited whenever a cute boy walks up to me, and also how much I loved more male celebrities. I'm terrified of what my parents would do. It's different for me coz I'm from a white religious family, and I'm aware of how much my dad and mom hates homosexuality. What's even more confusing is I think I feel shit for girls too. I need help guys" Aidan poured it all out.

"Who are you more attracted to? Or more like, who are you sexually attracted to? Because I can like a boy too, but based on admiration. So, try defining how you feel" Tristin suggested.

"I'm sexually attracted to both sexes. I watch gay porn, and straight porn too"

"You're bisexual then" Teresa got in the conversation.

"That's even worse. My dad is going to throw me out of the house if he finds out his only son is a freaking bisexual. I'm screwed" Aidan cried.

"It's okay Aidan. Human sexuality is a complex topic, and so many of us don't even find out our sexuality until our mid 20's, while some find out as early as childhood. You can't do shit about your sexuality. You just have to accept it" Luna uttered confidently.

"You're right Luna. I should accept it, and maybe, my parents could accept it too someday" Aidan concluded, wiping off his tears.

"Guys, give it up for Luna. What an amazing personality we have here with us. Luna, where you been hiding?" Tristin complimented Luna, winking at her.

(Oh my god. Tristin winked at me. Hell, freaking hot Tristin Martinez said nice things to me, and winked at me! Can this camp get any better!?) Luna smiled.
