“Last chance to run. You can take the car and go,” I said as I squeezed the wheel, my knuckles turning white. When Stella didn’t answer I turned to look at her only to see her back as she opened the door and walked out. I winced as she slammed the door, then followed her outside, circling the car in a hurry as she headed toward the stairs leading up to the estate.
She was breathtaking in the shimmering silver dress like she was wearing moonlight and just looking at her filled me with the same power the moon did. I could do this, I could beat him — for her, I was going to beat him or drag him with me to hell.
Hurrying to her side, I slid my hand to the small of her back, helping her keep her balance as she climbed the steps in her heels, keeping her skirts out of the way. She didn’t push me away or tell me not to touch her, so I stayed by her side, trying not to stare as my heart drummed in my chest.
