Beep

Slamming down on the alarm clock, my eyes slid open.

Today was the day. I was going to visit her grave.

Yawning, I tumbled out of my bed and went into my bathroom. Looking at my mirror, I read the affirmations I had left there.

I am beautiful.

I am smart.

Abba secures me.

I am enough.

...and the list goes on.

I brushed my teeth and splashed water on my face without bothering for a shower. Leaving the restroom, I dressed warmly.

Florida was experiencing its coldest winter in over 30 years, and I was only in my early 20s, so this was record-breaking.

Shoving my feet into my black UGGs, I left my room and went into the kitchen, where my mother was making breakfast for little Alias and Antique.

"Where's the Step?"

"He moved out."

"He moved out?! Where was I?"

"I kicked his ass out while you were out with Art. When am I going to meet him?"
