Dear Shannon,

It's been two weeks now. I was waiting for some contact from you, but apparently whatever you're doing somehow stops you from reaching me. I sure hope you aren't ignoring me on purpose. Or dead. I would prefer neither of those to be true. I'm crossing my fingers.

I was waiting for contact from you so that you would tell me more about these two. Because I'm struggling to figure them out on my own. Your little girl is less emotional and more aggressive than a few soldiers that I've met. And that's not a compliment. And as for the mother... I don't know if her paranoia is a good thing.

Don't get me wrong: they're good people, and they are clearly trying hard to cope with everything that has happened around them. But they were attached to you, so for you to just up roots and ditch them in some place where they couldn't escape, even if they wanted to? Inside, both of them is heartbroken. They just won't admit it to themselves yet.
