Been a while!
-Echidna-
Today, she was going to do her usual route, taking a bath and making breakfast. Although she tends to forget that one, it usually doesn't matter as she prefers to make snacks and tea.
Yes, real tea and not that abomination that Alec Hoshin made, the so-called Iced Tea, and some even prefer that to the 'real' tea, the audacity of them!
But she can forgive them as they are simply uncultured and ignorant; one day, she shall set them free as there's no better alternative for tea, as it should be boiled hot and noticed.
There's also a fact that a certain half-elf likes it, making her dislike it more; honestly, she doesn't understand what Flugel saw from that woman.
Wasn't she way better than that half-blood?
It wasn't like she was inferior to that half-elf in terms of looks, Many would agree that she's superior; as for knowledge?
Oh, please, there's no one more knowledgeable than her; she wasn't called the Witch Of Greed for no reason.
Magic? Well, aside from the Yin Magic, which reluctantly admits that half-elf was way better than her in that particular element, except that she's way superior to that whore in many ways.
So, why does Flugel choose her rather than her…?
Perhaps not even her Tome Of Wisdom can tell her that, then shaking her head has removed that particular thought in her mind.
While she may be a bit fond of Flugel as he's the ideal man who could perhaps help her achieve her dream of saving everyone, she wasn't in love with him.
Echidna doesn't know what 'love' is. It wasn't the lack of trying, though, but perhaps she just lacks the emotion to feel that way.
So far, the only person in this life who could make her feel 'loved' is perhaps Flugel, as he's the only one who managed to make her feel adoration from another individual.
But it would likely not happen in this lifetime; as long as that woman exists, there won't be a space in his heart for her.
Which was a shame; she could only apologize to her dead mother for the failure of not finding 'that person.'
As her biological mother told her, after meeting 'that person,' her life would be filled with joy and happiness.
Although it's a nice description, she can't imagine such a thing.
Echidna would surely scoff at this outlandish claim, but she couldn't as it was the last wish of her late mother for her.
While she may be indifferent most of the time, it doesn't mean she's an emotionless individual.
Those who claim otherwise are people who don't know her enough, not that she cared about it in the first place.
Anyway, it's time for her daily reading session in her personal library, as it's one of the very few things that she truly enjoys in life.
If that wasn't the case, she would have committed suicide a long time ago, if life was so boring.
Then as she was about to go, her footsteps paused as she noticed something amiss.
Echidna stared at the door right beside the library, she tilted her head. "Did I install this door before? Strange, I don't remember making this one…"
While she may be forgetful at times, it doesn't mean that she can't recall the things she had done if she concentrated enough.
But after thinking it through, only then did she realize that this door hadn't truly been there since yesterday; it just appeared out of nowhere.
"How particular.." Instead of being concerned or afraid, she was very curious.
This strange phenomenon is something she hasn't experienced, this was the first.
Her nature of wanting to know everything was urging her to investigate this and find out the source or else she would feel uneasy not knowing whatever this is.
Not to mention if she doesn't pursue her greed for knowledge, then she might as well retire as the Witch Of Greed.
If retirement is even an option anyway, her title is what defines her as an individual rather than an occupation.
The door itself wasn't anything special. Instead, it was a familiar design with a white color; there's also a strange detail about this door, which in her perspective looks like it's glowing.
How intriguing, she couldn't hold her curiosity anymore as her instinct was telling her that the answers she was looking for were behind this very door.
Before she entered, she inspected the door to see what it was made of, but after a few minutes, she couldn't figure out which wood this door was made of, and the fact that this particular door had some sort of odd energy that she wasn't familiar with.
As it was neither [ Od ] nor [ Mana ], it wasn't made from an [ Authority ] either; it was completely alien to her, and that's why her curiosity peaked.
Even her Tome Of Wisdom doesn't know anything about this particular door; it remained blank as it could be, and there are only a few instances that this happened.
One of them is that woman Pandora….
To which her beautiful face twitched in displeasure being reminded of that woman.
Sure she might dislike Stella, but she hated Pandora, a feeling that she thought she wasn't capable of.
But she did anyway, showing that she wasn't emotionless as everyone thought she was.
If she could kill that witch (Very ironic coming from her), Echidna wouldn't hesitate to do so. However, she is way too powerful for her to eliminate.
Strong as she is, Echidna can't kill Pandora, who can literally alter the world with her [ Authority ]as she wishes; there's no possible outcome that she would be able to win.
One must know that Echidna, the Witch Of Greed is the weakest amongst the 7 witches.
That is in terms of [ Authority ], but in versatility, she was second to none.
Since she couldn't find anything, Echidna decided to enter to see what exactly was behind that door.
Without hesitation, she entered the door. Whether it's a trap specifically made to capture or,, wors,e, kill her. At this moment she couldn't care less as she couldn't stop her own greed for new knowledge.
Consequences be damned, she could think about it later.
Then, as soon as she entered, she was met by an unexpected sight; judging from its appearance, this place seemed to be some kind of shop, but different from any well-established shops in her world.
As this shop seemed to be ahead of her time, it's seeing the future.
Just knowing this alone made her very interested in what this place was about to reveal to her.
Then, she noticed a person, a human perhaps and he certainly didn't look like any demi-human race back in her world.
Oh, she knew that she was no longer in her world; for one, she couldn't feel [ Od ] anymore, which was one of the defining traits of her world.
There's also the fact that her mana was incredibly suppressed as she could only feel about 1% of it, maybe less as she couldn't accurately guess the percentage.
But she had never been so weak in her entire life as she is right now.
There's also the fact that she couldn't use her Tome Of Wisdom, her authority as the Witch Of Greed.
Right now, it's nothing more than a plain book without anything written on it.
Echidna thought. 'Maybe I should have prepared for a bit before stepping inside.'
However, it was too late for it anyway.
Preparing to defend herself if this individual is somehow hostile to her, she gathers a bit of her magic, her hand ready to be fired if this person attacks.
As this individual got closer, she realized how tall he was.
Honestly, she was quite surprised; although she met someone bigger. However, those were from a different race to think a human could grow this big.
Compared to her height, he might as well be a giant.
Then the man stared at her with a frown on his face and said, "While it's a good thing to be prepared, lady, your 'sneak' attack won't work for me, but good thinking regardless."
Echidna let out a hum; she wasn't surprised at all; if this individual managed to create a shop like this, a place that even her authority couldn't understand, then it would make sense that they're powerful.
She let out her signature smile at the man and replied. "Thank you."
The man looked a bit surprised by her reply, but it didn't last long. "Alright, there's no need for you to do that here, as my boss forbade fighting or harming our customers in any way possible; however, if they attack first, that would be different; now, would you like to know what happens if you did?"
Echidna smirked but didn't feel like testing that because that's a very stupid thing to do, even with her standard.
There's no need to be hostile to a neutral party.
Besides, if she did start to attack, the things that she would learn here would forever be out of reach, and that's something unacceptable.
"No, but I would like to know what exactly is this place."
