Second Meal - Golden Egg Fried Rice (2)

The orc who had just been called the "Destruction Orc King" was taken aback when he heard this.

However, after a moment of being surprised, he recovered to say, "Ah, so you're from my world."

The hunter couldn't help repeating after him, "Your world?"

The Destruction Orc King stroked his chin to think for a bit before turning to call out, "Hey Croquette, this one's yours. He's one of your humans, so it wouldn't be right if he sat with a bunch of orcs."

The one that the Destruction Orc King called "Croquette" was a large man who had blazing red hair, but was dressed in a simple magician's robe.

When he had been called out, Croquette turned around to look at the hunter before saying, "Oh." Then after that, he waved his hand for the hunter to come over.

Seeing this, the Destruction Orc King no longer paid any attention to the hunter and returned to his own table where there were three other orcs waiting for him.

The hunter was confused about what was happening, but since Croquette was calling out to him, he decided to play along to get more information.

But after taking a single step, he suddenly realized something.

He looked at Croquette, blinked, rubbed his eyes, and blinked again before suddenly pointing at him and shouting, "The Great Sage Zweit!"

Naturally his loud shout attracted the attention of the other customers.

After hearing the shouting from the hunter, many of the customers that were familiar with Croquette looked over and pointed at him while laughing.

When Croquette saw this, his face couldn't help turning a bit dark before he waved his hand at the hunter.

There was a layer of ice that suddenly appeared over the hunter's mouth before he pointed at the chair beside him and said, "Sit down and be quiet, you're disturbing the other guests."

The hunter was shocked at being able to personally see magic performed by the Great Sage Zweit, so he stood there in a daze for a few seconds. However, seeing the way that Croquette was looking at him, he quickly sat down beside him and remained silent.

Seeing this, Croquette waved his hand and the ice that had been covering his mouth disappeared.

Croquette then said, "This place is the Between World Restaurant, it's basically a restaurant in another world."

The hunter once again revealed a shocked look and said in a loud voice, "Another world? This place is another world?"

With how loud he was, even Yami's attention was caught.

She looked over at them and the two of them immediately felt a chill run down his spine. Croquette felt it much more than the hunter since he was very clear on what she was capable of, so he quickly waved his hand and covered the hunter's mouth with ice again.

Then he bowed to Yami and apologized before she finally looked away.

Seeing this, he let out a sigh of relief.

Like the hunter had said, he was the Great Sage Zweit of the human race, the greatest magician that had ever existed. It was said that his power even surpassed the greatest heroes and demon kings of the past and he was recognized as the strongest man in his world.

But in this place, he knew that he was nothing special compared to Yami…

After all, he had already been taught a brutal lesson by her the first time that he came here…

Once she was gone, he turned back to glare at the hunter who hadn't learned his lesson yet and slapped him on the back of the head.

The hunter just revealed an awkward look, but he didn't resist since he knew that it was his fault. After all, he had seen how that lady in the black dress had just drop kicked that deer to the ground…

He definitely didn't want to be at the receiving end of that kick.

After learning from his mistake the first time, Croquette didn't release the magic that was covering the hunter's mouth this time.

Instead, he continued, "This is a place where you can eat cooking from another world and I can guarantee that each item on the menu is very delicious. As long as you have money, you can buy anything you want to eat." After a pause, he asked, "You do have money, right?"

The hunter tried to speak, but realizing that his mouth was still covered, he just gave a simple nod as a response.

When Croquette saw this, he waved over at Yami who came over with a menu for him and he handed it to the hunter before saying, "Look through this and see if there's anything that catches your eye."

The hunter took the menu and started looking over it, but he was completely confused by the items on it.

It wasn't that he wasn't able to read the menu, but rather the items on the menu didn't make any sense to him at all. There were many different names that he had never heard of and if it wasn't for the descriptions of the dishes that came on the menu, he wouldn't have had a single idea of what these things were.

However, there wasn't anything that particularly caught his eyes until he saw the daily special.

The daily special was something that the chef chose to feature each day and it would always be at a reduced price. However, it wasn't because of the reduced price that the hunter's interest was piqued.

Instead, it was because of the description of the meal that the hunter couldn't help being interested.

Today's daily special was actually quite simple, it was just golden egg fried rice. It was simply fried rice that had an egg mixed in and nothing else.

However, when the hunter saw that it was just this, he couldn't help giving a gulp before he started sinking into his memories.

Even though he was a hunter now, he hadn't always lived this life.

Before becoming a hunter, he had once lived on a farm with his family. His family farm was actually one that had been passed down for many generations and they had specialized in farming chickens.

In the end, the farm had been passed down to his older brother, so he went off to become a hunter because that was the life that he had always wanted for himself.

But he could never forget about his days growing up on the farm. Those were the happiest days of his life, growing up on the farm with his family.

However, since they were a farm family, that meant that they didn't really have much money. So when it came to their meals and their clothing, they made do with what they had.

One thing that they enjoyed regularly was eggs because they raised many chickens on their farms. But since they were poor, it was a regular treat that they enjoyed once a week.

This had left a deep impression on the hunter and his favourite food had become the egg.

Now there was a dish that had nothing other than rice and egg, so he couldn't help being curious about it.

He had enjoyed many dishes that used eggs in his life since he now made decent money as a hunter, but he had never seen a dish as strange as this. Would a dish that only used rice and egg really taste that good?

As he thought about this, he couldn't help becoming more and more curious about this egg fried rice.

Seeing the way that hunter looked at the menu, Croquette revealed a smile as he remembered his first time coming here. He had been the same as the hunter, especially after he discovered the new love of his life, the croquette.

After watching for a bit, Croquette asked, "Did you find something that you like?"

The hunter was jolted from his thoughts when he heard this and he tried to say something, but realizing that his mouth was still blocked by ice, all he could do was give a nod.

Croquette gave a nod in response before saying, "Point it out and I'll order it for you."

The hunter pointed to the daily special.

Croquette couldn't help being surprised as he asked, "Really, you just want this egg fried rice?"

The hunter gave a strong nod.

Croquette looked at the hunter with a raised brow like he thought he was strange, but he still called out to Yami to get the order in.

She just gave a nod and wrote it down on a notepad before heading to the kitchen.

Since there was still time before both their meals came and Croquette was feeling bored, he decided to release the gag over the hunter. However, to make sure that the same mistake wasn't made again, he said, "I'm going to remove your gag now. Remember to keep your voice down, do you understand me? Blink twice if you do."

Croquette made sure to stress the second part because to him, it was very important.

The hunter took a look at Yami who was walking around before giving a nod and blinking twice.

With a wave of his hand, Croquette removed the layer of ice from the hunter's mouth.

After it was removed, the hunter couldn't help looking at Croquette with a strange look and asking, "You are the Great Sage Zweit, right?"

Croquette revealed an annoyed look when he heard this, but seeing the way that the hunter looked at him, he gave a sigh and responded with a nod, "Yes, I'm the Great Sage Zweit." Then after a pause he added, "But make sure that you call me Croquette here."

The hunter had many questions after this, such as why he was called Croquette, but there was another burning question that he had to ask first.

He turned over to look at the orc who he talked to earlier and looked at him for a few seconds before turning back to ask, "That is the Destruction Orc King, right?"

Croquette once again replied with a nod, "Yes, that's him."

A normal hunter might not be able to recognize these two, but this hunter was someone who prided himself in being knowledgeable. He had taught himself how to read and he made sure to buy the newspaper whenever he could to keep up with the news, regardless of how expensive it was.

From the pictures printed in the paper, he came to recognize the important people of his world, which naturally included this Great Sage Zweit and the Destruction Orc King.

The Great Sage Zweit was the greatest magician in the human race, the one that led them in their struggles against the demons. It was even said that without his magical power, the humans would have already become the slaves of the demons.

The Destruction Orc King on the other hand was one of the Four Demon Kings of the demon race, his prestige among the demons was unmatched.

These two leaders of the opposing human and demon sides, how could they just calmly sit here and eat their meals?

Moreover, there was the way that the Destruction Orc King had addressed the Great Sage Zweit…it was almost as if they were friends!

If this news was spread, there was no doubt that it would cause chaos in their world.

Even a fool would be able to understand what he wanted to ask, let alone a wise Sage like Croquette.

He looked at the Destruction Orc King too for a few seconds before saying, "That orc and I, we have our own circum…"

But before he could finish, a server had come over with their food.

A plate of croquettes and a plate of egg fried rice.

Seeing that their meals were here, Croquette said, "Let's talk later. For now, let's eat."

The hunter still wanted to talk, but hearing the tone in Croquette's voice, he knew that it was useless. So all he could do was give a nod of agreement.

He turned to look at their meals and he was surprised that Croquette's meal arrived at the same time as his. After all, Croquette's meal looked much more complicated than his.

But the reason for that was that Croquette had ordered his food much earlier than the hunter. He had already ordered before the hunter even came into the restaurant.

So that delay made their meals arrive at the same time.

After looking at Croquette's meal for a bit, the hunter finally turned his attention to his own meal.

He was shocked the moment that he saw his own meal.

That was because there was only a single yellow mound in front of him.

When he looked closer, he found that it was a large mound of egg fried rice, but it was different from any egg fried rice that he had seen before.

That was because when he looked more closely, he saw that each grain of rice was actually completely surrounded in egg instead of just pieces of egg stir fried with rice.

The more he looked at it, the less it seemed like a mound of egg fried rice and the more it seemed like a pile of gold…

"Just what is this place?" He couldn't help muttering to himself.
