Eleventh Meal - Ebi Fry (2)

Rigur just stood there in a daze for a while, trying to figure out what this thing was.

But no matter how he thought about it, he just couldn't understand what this thing was.

It was a door that was just standing there on its own. It wasn't attached to anything and it didn't seem like it led anywhere, but there it stood as if something was holding it up.

The only thing that he could think of was that this was a magic door.

Magic doors weren't that common, but they still existed in this world.

But why would someone make a magic door that would connect to their warehouse?

Magic doors were rare things that only the most powerful magicians or the richest nobles used. After all, they were things that could be used to instantly teleport between places, so they were very useful.

But because they were rare and hard to make, they were very expensive and not many people owned one.

So of course no one would waste one to create a passage into their warehouse. This was an alchemy lab that was considered the worst of the worst.

Since he couldn't think this through, Rigur decided not to waste any time and moved towards the door.

It was impossible to just leave it be since this was their warehouse. They couldn't just leave this magic door connected to the warehouse since it meant that there was the chance of a possible theft at any time.

So Rigur had to find out what was on the other side and if possible, get them to stop using this magic door here.

He was certain that this was all a mistake and as long as he talked to the other side, they would be willing to listen to him and disconnect the magic door.

He reached out and turned the handle, opening the door.

During all of this, there was nothing that changed. There were no traces of magic at all, which made Rigur feel that this wasn't a magic door.

But when it opened, there was a bright flash of light before a strong magic energy wave hit Rigur in the face.

He didn't know who made this magic door, but he could tell that whoever it was, they were very powerful.

As the bright burst of light lit up in front of him, he couldn't help covering his eyes since it was too bright for him to look into it.

It was a good thing that the bright light didn't last long and soon it had dimmed enough for him to see through the door to see what was on the other side.

When he looked through the door, he couldn't help being shocked.

That was because it wasn't what he had expected to see.

Instead of a private residence or some kind of magic tower, this was a restaurant that was filled with customers. They were all happily eating their dishes, without care for Rigur standing at the door.

But the most shocking thing was that most of these customers were human.

He couldn't help being curious about what this place was, so he couldn't help taking a few steps forward.

When he walked through the door frame, he could feel a powerful magic fluctuation around him before the door suddenly closed behind him.

When the door had closed behind him, the people in the restaurant finally turned to look in his direction and noticed him. When they saw him, the people in the restaurant couldn't help revealing strange looks.

There were even a few of them that suddenly stood up and raised the weapons that they had beside them.

That was because Rigur's appearance reminded them of something else.

His green skin, his sharp ears, and his small stature, were all the defining features of a very special creature in fantasy worlds.

He was a goblin.

The ones that had stood up were all adventurers who risked their lives fighting monsters to earn their pay, so they weren't unfamiliar with the appearance of a goblin.

As soon as they stood up, everyone else also turned in his direction and they couldn't help breaking out in conversation.

"What is a goblin doing here?"

"How did it get through the door?"

"Did it wander in here by accident?"

The adventurers knew that if they left the goblin here, it would create problems for the store, so they all moved forward to take care of it.

When Rigur saw these people moving towards him with their weapons, he couldn't help taking a step back, but his back was already to the door, so he really couldn't move any further back.

He quickly raised his hands and said, "Wait, wait, I don't mean any harm."

The adventurers were surprised to hear this goblin speak, but they couldn't understand it, so it didn't mean anything to them.

They quickly went into formation and surrounded the goblin so that it couldn't run anywhere before moving forward towards it.

But before they could do anything to Rigur, Yami suddenly moved forward, past the lines of adventurers.

When they saw this, they couldn't help speaking up.

"Boss lady, don't trouble yourself! We'll take care of it for you!"

"Boss lady, just leave it to us!"

Not a single one of them showed any concern for Yami because they knew that there would be no problem if she approached it.

They all knew just how powerful Yami was because they had all seen her demonstrations before.

If Yami couldn't handle this goblin, they couldn't handle it even if they worked together.

But Yami ignored them all and walked up to the goblin to look down at it.

When Rigur saw Yami looking down at him, he couldn't help starting to tremble.

That was because he could sense the powerful magic fluctuations coming from this human woman. Even if he wanted to resist, he wasn't able to at all because she was just that much stronger than him.

So the only thing that he could do was…

Without hesitation, Rigur fell to his knees and started begging for his life.

Even though they didn't understand what he was saying, everyone in the restaurant could get the general gist of what he was doing and they couldn't help feeling sorry for him.

But that didn't move Yami at all as she still looked at him with narrowed eyes.

There were even people in the restaurant that wanted to speak up for the goblin…but they didn't in the end because it was a goblin. The reputation of the goblin was already bad enough in their worlds, so they knew that it was better to not let this goblin go.

However, to their surprise, Yami didn't take care of this goblin.

She just raised her hand and there was a panel that appeared out of nowhere.

This was something that they had never seen before, but they could feel the powerful magic energy fluctuations that came from it. Everyone knew that this was some kind of powerful magic, but they had no idea what it did.

Yami tapped on this panel a few times before looking down at Rigur and saying, "It seems like the translation magic isn't set up to pick up this language. This is a mistake."

The way that she said this almost seemed like she was talking to herself, but it had been in a voice loud enough that everyone in the restaurant could hear it.

They all looked at her with confused looks as they couldn't understand what she meant.

Well, they could understand what the words meant since they were all familiar with every word she said. They just couldn't understand the context that she was using these words in.

Yami tapped on the panel a few more times before turning back to Rigur to say, "Say something now."

Rigur had been kneeling with his head firmly placed on the ground while trembling. He was just hoping that this powerful woman in front of him would let him go, but he never expected her to suddenly say this.

Rigur couldn't help looking up at her in a daze before saying, "Are you sparing me?"

This time, everyone was able to understand the words that he said and they were even more shocked.

They couldn't understand what had just happened, but they could tell that Yami did something…

Yami gave a satisfied nod before saying, "Stand up, I won't do anything to you."

Rigur looked at her with a doubtful look before hesitantly standing up.

Yami looked at the adventurers who still had their weapons up and said, "Are you still wielding weapons in my restaurant? Do you want to be punished by me?"

The adventurers trembled when they heard this, but still they didn't let their guards down. After all, there was a goblin that was standing there in front of them.

One of them couldn't help saying, "Boss lady, this is a goblin, we can't let our guard down that easily."

Yami pointed at Rigur and said, "This is a different kind of goblin than the one that you've encountered before. This one has developed in a world where goblins have intelligence and have a docile nature, so they can communicate with humans."

Then she pointed at his clothes and said, "Don't you see his clothes? Can't you see that they are made in the same style as human clothing?"

As they looked closely at Rigur, they had to admit that his clothes seemed like what a human researcher would wear.

But still, none of them were willing to accept this that easily…until…

Yami gave a cold snort and said, "Do you still have doubts? If you do, you can address them to me."

As she said this, she raised her fist at them.

When they saw this fist, they all felt a chill run down their spine and immediately lowered their weapons.

Yami gave a satisfied nod before saying, "Get back to your meals, I'll take care of this."

While they had unwilling looks, the adventurers still went back to their tables and sat down.

During this time, they all flashed wary looks at Rigur, making it clear that they still didn't trust him.

But at the very least, they didn't seem to have any ill intentions towards him right now.

Seeing this, Rigur couldn't help letting out a sigh of relief, but he also didn't let his guard down.

After all, the most dangerous person, this lady with the powerful magic energy fluctuations, was still standing in front of him.

So he just waited for her to say something.

Yami turned back and said, "Welcome to the Between World Restaurant."
