Eric doesn't respond for a while, making sure that even the invisible ghosts around were gone. Once he was satisfied enough with the distance from any breathing soul, he smiled. "Yeah, everything's cool. I'm just shocked you attended the club meeting today... cause you know, you've never attended before. Which is strange... why join the club if you're not going to attend?"
"Yeah, about that," Pablo drawled "...I've been busy lately. Trying to raise... the point is I've been busy," He explained, not sure whether or not he wanted the senior to know about his money problems.
After all, he didn't know Eric like that and so thought it best to keep his personal matter to himself instead of sharing it with the senior whom he wasn't too familiar with.
Eric nods. "I understand... you know you can tell me anything right? Even if it's money you need, I know quick ways you could get a lot of cash. And best of all, it doesn't involve damaging the environment..."
Tempting, I mean anything that'll bring Pablo money is tempting in the situation he's in now.
Pablo thought for a while, he doesn't know what job he has to do and Eric won't tell him. But if it involves getting enough money, then he'll surely do it.
Eric placed his hand on the brown-haired boy's shoulder and smiles. "Take a week or two to think about it... tell me when you've made up your mind" Eric passes his card to the brown haired before he leaves the place.
Pablo returned to his apartment where he lived. He used to live with his parents in a rather big house where he had everything he needed. But after the divorce and his father sold the house, he's now in a single-room apartment, where he is even barely able to pay the rent. He thought about life could change in a very short time and also thought of how it was better to leave at the moment rather than focus on the future.
Pablo then sighed before turning. He almost screamed as he saw a figure sitting on the couch in the sitting room which turned out to be his best friend Alexa Chillwell.
She has a spare key to the apartment, and she also lives in the house just opposite his. The girlie next door so she let herself in. She wore a sweater on a shirt, and her blond hair which she laid to the side complimented her large green eyes. She smiled to reveal her white set of teeth which made her skin look bright and glossy. "Scaredycat…" She says, before walking over to Pablo and punching him in the shoulder.
"What are you doing here Alex?"
She frowned. "What? I can't visit my best buddy again?… It's not my fault that you're a scared cat. Besides, it's been a long since we last hung out together. I wanna change that"
Pablo doesn't reply. He stared at his friend, lost in his thoughts until she smiled. "Is my beauty outstanding today?…"
He shakes his head before tossing his bag to the side and throwing himself on a couch and letting out a loud sigh. Alexa followed and sat next to him. She slipped her hand into his and scooted closer. "Come on, you know nothing beats relaxing with your best friend after a long day."
Pablo was exhausted and to be frank, all he wanted was to retire for the day, but he knows the blonde won't let him, this was not the first time.
"You get to pick what we do… even if it's your game."
This lightens his mood. A few moments later, after relieving himself from his outfit, and changing to a much more comfortable and relaxing outfit, he sat in the living room with his friend to play his favorite game, "Gun Lucha Online."
"So, did you get the number of any of the girls you stared at today?"
She always mocks his behavior, but this doesn't affect him in the slightest, because he's already used to her words.
"Nah, I couldn't muster enough courage."
She shakes her head and turns back to face the screen.
"But something happened…"
As if expecting it, she paused the game and turn to face the blue-eyed man. It was an offline match.
"Please, fill my cup," She says, eagerly waiting.
"Well, after my long, stressing, tiring day, I went to that biology club shit I signed for."
"What did you do to my friend?" Alexa chipped. "The Pablo I know never attended that"
He smiled. "So I talked to Eric" He continues. "You know Eric, the guy you're head over heels for"
"I'm not head over heels for…"
"Whatever!…" He interrupted. "So like, he talked to me and shit, inquired about why I've never attended that shit, and then outta nowhere, he goes..."
"…You know you can tell me anything, right? Even if it's money you need, I know quick ways you could get a lot of cash. And best of all, it doesn't involve damaging the environment!" He says, mimicking Eric's tone.
"Cult!…" She concluded. Before walking over to the kitchen to pick a glass of water.
"What?…" Pablo queried.
"It's a cult group, you should not join their shit if you don't wanna wind up in jail." She passed one cup to Pablo while taking a sip of hers.
He cocked his brows, staring at her confused. But his friend was almost always right, all the times she comments on things like this.
"And who will I nag if you are in jail!?… Trust me, buddy, you'll find a way out of this, you always do… and I'll help in my ways," She says, before playfully punching him in the shoulder.
Pablo nods. "Fine, fine… I'll call him, to turn down the offer."
After a long silence, and then just clicking on the controller, Pablo turned to his friend. "I'm gonna do it."
"Accept the job?"
He shakes his head. "I'm gonna ask Reema out. She always sits on a bench in the college garden, I'll ask her there."
Alexa pouts and pushes back a stray hair from his face. She had a sour and pitiful look in her eyes. "I'll always be here if you want a shoulder to cry on boo"
He smiled. Alexa never supported him when it comes to him trying to confess his feelings to any girl before. So that is far more than comforting.
…
Pablo gazed at Reema from afar as she sat on the bench. Large blue eyes with long raven hair that rest well on the sides of her face. She had bangs that she use to cover her forehand she has always been insecure about. She had tanned skin. A lot of guys glanced at her as they walk past.
He worked up the courage to go and talk to her. He made sure he had nothing on his face and he earlier picked out the best of his cloth. He wants to make sure he made the best first impression.
But sadly, before he reached where she was, a car pulled up in front of her, it was a black Maserati, the latest version. I mean, of course, it's the latest version, it's driven by the great Hector Ochoa.
The best football player in the entire college.
Pablo bites his lower lips as he stared at her entering the car. He shouldn't be angry. She's not dating him. But he couldn't help it.
He angrily pulled out his phone and dialed a number. Eric's number.
End of chapter.
