Chapter 38

MARCOS

To my bad luck, the afternoon passed too quickly and I hadn't had much time to rest a little, mostly because I left things until the last minute because I forgot, I had too many things on my mind more important than college.

Carlos decided to get me up because it's the most difficult thing in the world for me. Since yesterday, after he talked to Gabriela, I could see Carlos a little happier. I don't know what they had talked about and when I asked him, he didn't tell me anything, so I'm hoping Gabriela would tell me today, although knowing her, she wouldn't tell me anything or yes, I don't know.

She arrived at my house just as I was leaving, which is weird for me as they always had to wait a couple of minutes for me to show up, but apparently, she had gotten used to my lateness, thanks to her I remembered many things, especially when it came to college, she had a great memory that anyone would envy. I went to the car and sat in the passenger seat.

"Hi guys." I greeted them. Her siblings answered me, I could see they're sulking, I guess it's because of Gabriela and Alex, apparently the twins had teamed up to control Alex about what he does and not do anything to his sister. I found the relationship the twins had funny, they could be killing each other all day, but when it's something about their sister or their family they left their differences aside.

"You look tired Marcos." Gabriela observed, "Yes, I didn't rest almost at all yesterday, you know, work and that." I said, "That's what happens to you for leaving things until the last minute." She laughed and I nodded, because that was most likely. "Yes, I know, but you know how I am and that won't change in life."

"If you want me to help you, you just have to say it, I'll be happy to do it." Gabriela said, shrugging her shoulders. "You'll have your things to do, I don't think it's necessary." I responded and she started to deny "Nothing is more important than helping you, you know that. Besides, I already finished my work."

"I hate you're that organized, you know?" I laughed, because it's an admirable quality of Gabriela's, at least for me. "I'll help you if you want to be one, we can always meet up to study." She assured "It would be fine, you remember everything I have to do, I don't know how."

"Because you tell me and I remember, I don't know how I do it honestly, I just remember it. But that, what we agreed to do this afternoon, you're going to end up being organized and remembering everything you have to do." She said convinced and I laughed "You won't achieve all that in one day."

"Maybe, but you'll end up remembering everything you have to do, I'll take care of that." We spent the rest of the way talking about the first thing that came to mind until we got to college. This time her siblings went towards it and we waited outside for the girls and Alex to arrive.

"Hey, what did you and my brother talk about yesterday?" I asked curiously "Why?" she asked, turning to look away. "He looked happy, more so than when he came home." I stated, "Well, we didn't talk about anything in particular, we talked about what you told him. Why did you tell him?" She asked, focusing her gaze on mine again.

"Because whatever is going on in your head, I think he's the only one who could get that idea out of you." I said and she laughed "I'm not going to do anything; how should I tell you?" She asked, "It's just whenever they say something like that, you snap, and yesterday you didn't, it's weird, you know?" I pointed out, "She's lucky I didn't hear her, I was half-deaf, and I already told you if she says she's not afraid of me, she should come and tell me to my face. That's the moment I'll jump, while not because she's showing me the opposite. Also, I'll tell you something, if you wanted your brother to stop me you were wrong, you have no idea about this, but when we were younger and someone dared to mess with any of our family, we would jump, both of us. "

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked, "Carlos will support everything I do. If before you couldn't prevent what I hypothetically do, now much less, Carlos won't allow it." She said convinced, "And we never realized what you were doing? I don't know if I believe you Gabriela." I hesitate.

"When Carlos came home angry about something and didn't talk to anyone, after a while I would show up and we would leave, after that he would come back calmer and with a smile." She pointed out "But that's because he was with you." I said "No, it wasn't because of that, it was because we were going to teach a lesson to those who dared to mess with our families."

"So that explained why they didn't mess with my brother, what I don't understand is why they didn't stop doing it with you." I thought "Because I wasn't defending myself, I was defending my family, but not me."

"You're a weird case Gabriela." I said sincerely, "You already knew that." She laughed "Beautiful, you're not weird, you're different, and I love it." At that moment we both turned in the direction where Alex is. I don't know how long he had been there listening to us, I just know that as soon as Gabriela realized he was there, that sparkle she had in her eyes when she's with him returned. I don't think I ever saw her this happy, but I loved seeing she's finally happy, she deserved it more than anyone.
