Chapter 83

MARCOS

When Gabriela told me they were in the hospital with my sister, I didn't hesitate to leave college, I had to be with my sister and try not to make Gabriela more nervous than she already is, although that's going to be complicated, especially when Carlos found out she wasn't well.

As soon as I arrived at the hospital I could see Gabriela was worse than I imagined and even though Alex was with her and didn't leave her side, it seemed her condition wasn't improving, I was beginning to worry about her, honestly, and she got worse after what the doctor said what they had found in the tests they had done, if she was anxious before, now she's on the verge of an anxiety attack, and that's what she should avoid, but she didn't listen to anything we said to her.

When the doctor let us go see Ana in the room, Gabriela didn't hesitate for a second to go after her, and even though I told Alex to go with her so she wouldn't get worse, she didn't want to, which I thank him, because I also wanted to see how my sister is.

Upon entering the room, it doesn't take long for Gabriela to approach her side and start crying. "Come on Gabriela, she'll be fine. Do not worry so much." I tried to console her "How… How do you expect me not to worry… about her Marcos? It's my little girl." She whispered the last part "I know it's your little girl, but your little girl learned from the best. She's strong and will be able to handle anything like you, her mother. "You should rest for a while."

"I'm not going to move away from her until I'm sure she'll be okay and you won't be able to avoid it, Marcos." She assured and I knew I'm not going to convince her, but I wouldn't try to get her out of here either, not if it was something that would help her be a little calmer "And I'm not going to do it, you should just relax because the one who will end bad will be you, and you don't want to see ill when my sister wakes up."

"I'll get better when she is." She replied, "You'll see how it will get better." We were silent for a couple of minutes and Gabriela was running her hand through my sister's hair, who at this moment is asleep and had medications attached to her.

From one moment to the next, Gabriela's cell phone starts ringing, but she's ignoring it, and the truth is, no matter how much I insisted it could be her parents, she didn't even want to look at it until she must have gotten tired so she looked at it and I could see she's getting worse and worse, which she couldn't explain to me, and it's at that moment she left the room upset and I went with her to see what's happening to her.

As soon as we leave the room she begins to look around and walk a few steps until she stops for a few seconds and collapses. "GABRIELAAA!" I had already knelt down next to her when I heard Alex shout her name and it didn't take long for him to come to us and take Gabriela in his arms.

"Come on Gabriela, react. Please a doctor!" It doesn't take long for a couple of other doctors to arrive next to us and they end up taking Gabriela from Alex's arms, and even though he didn't want to let her go, they end up getting him to let Gabriela go and I have to hold on so he doesn't tear off an arm to one of the doctors.

"Come on Alex, it will be fine." I said, doing my best to calm him down, because the last thing I needed was for him to get sick too. "What the hell just happened, Marcos? Where were you two going?" He asked, focusing his gaze on mine. "I was just following Gabriela, her phone didn't stop ringing and when she decided to look at it, she got even more mad… I really have no idea what happened to her. She had even started to calm down a little."

"This cannot be happening." Alex murmured, leaving his head on his hands, "Come on, don't get upset now, because that's the last thing she needs right now. She needs you strong Alex, this is all because of her anxiety." I reported "I had to be with her to at least try to calm her down." He pointed out and I nodded, because even though he could help with Gabriela's anxiety, at this moment it's something complicated to do, especially when she doesn't want to be separated from my sister. "And you were, but at this moment I doubt anyone can do something for her, she's too nervous to listen to anything we tell her."

At that moment my brother appears fuming, and he would fume more as soon as he found out about Gabriela. "Where are Ana and Gabriela?" My brother asked, looking everywhere, probably looking for Gabriela. "Ana is in the room and Gabriela is being treated."

"Don't fuck with me, she has the same as ana? My brother asked and I denied, "No, she doesn't have the same thing as her, she just had an anxiety attack because of Ana and something that came to her cell phone." I reported, "What did she get?" my brother questioned, frowning. "I have no idea; I couldn't see it."

"Where is her cell phone?" He asked. "You must have it in her pocket." I said without further ado, "Wait here" He responded, walking towards the room Gabriela was in. "Where are you going?" I questioned "Don't worry." he says and left us there. I have no idea what he would do, much less what he was looking for, but it doesn't take long for him to arrive next to us with Gabriela's cell phone in hand.

"Unlock it." He ordered, "We're not going to look at Gabriela's phone Carlos, have you gone crazy?" I asked "Alex, do you know the password?" He asked her boyfriend and he denied. At that moment he picked up his cell phone and started calling I don't know who, but he still had no idea what he planned to do with Gabriela's cell phone.

"Carlota... listen to me... shit Carlota, I need you to listen to me... Do you know the password to Gabriela's cell phone?... It's important, otherwise I wouldn't ask you... Carlota seriously, Marcos will tell you everything, but tell me the damn password... Thank you, I'll pass it on to you now." With that he hands me his phone while he unlocks Gabriela's phone and starts searching through it.

"Marcos, can you explain to me what's happening? Why does your brother need Gabriela's password?" my best friend questioned "Carlota I can't answer right now, I swear I'll call you in a couple of minutes." I promised, "But…" But I didn't even listen to her anymore, I had to know what both Alex and Carlos were looking at on Gabriela's cell phone. I approached them and started looking at the screen with them, because, although I didn't want them to look at her cell phone, there's the solution to her way of acting and her current state, which we don't know what it is.

"What the fuck is this?" We were looking at some messages she received shortly before we left Ana's room and the truth is that it didn't make much sense, if this is what made Gabriela sick, I can't understand exactly why. The message just said to enjoy your surprise, from the blonde, it was put by the person who sent the message, but I don't understand anything at all.

"Relatives of Gabriela García?" the doctor asked, "How is she? Can we come see her?" Alex asked, desperate for information about his girlfriend. "You can, but I come to tell you she's sedated, her blood pressure was high and when she woke up, she was upset asking about her daughter. Do you have any idea where she could be?"

"She's in this hospital, they admitted her a couple of hours ago." I said quickly, "Maybe that's why she's upset, she'll spend an hour here to see how she evolves, and then we'll keep her under observation for a couple of hours. Let you know she must be calm, anything that can upset her can harm her."

"Thank you very much doctor, but can we come see you?" Alex asked. "Yeah, sure, follow me." She said and the three of us started to follow her until Carlos stopped me. "You are going to go with Ana, and call Carlota because you promised her." He ordered again, "But I also want to see Gabriela."

"And you will see her, but not now. If she found out we left Ana alone, she would kill us, so you're going to go to her. I'm going to accompany Alex. When Carlota comes, you go with her to see her, but while you go with Ana, we can't leave them alone for a moment." He said seriously and I frowned trying to understand what's happening. "What is this about Carlos?" I questioned, "Why do we have to take care of them both, this doesn't feel good to me."

"As you wish, but don't take too long, okay?" I asked, "You go with Ana, I'll let you know when you can go see her." And with that he left. I don't know what was happening, all this is weird, not what Gabriela did, because I expected something like that, she was too upset for it not to happen to her, but for Carlos to tell me this? I don't know if he knew something I didn't and that's why his way of acting.

A couple of minutes later I went to my sister's room and sat in the chair Gabriela occupied until an hour ago. I pick up my cell phone to call Carlota, but it seems like she got tired of waiting because she was calling me, so I answer her quickly so she doesn't scold me so much at least.

"Can you explain to me what's happening? You better tell me the truth, Marcos." She said in a threatening tone, "My sister is hospitalized." I blurted out "What? Why?" My best friend questioned "Fertilizer poisoning from what the doctors said." I responded, shrugging my shoulders and not really understanding what had happened yet. "That doesn't make sense."

"I know, and Gabriela was mad about it." I said, "I'm going there right now." reported "Wait a minute." I asked before he hung up, "What's happening now, Marcos?" she asked exasperated. "It's about Gabriela." I said "What's wrong with her? I can already imagine how she must be, she is practically her daughter Marcos"

"No, you can't imagine, because right now she's in the emergency room and sedated." I reported and heard her take a breath. "What?" Carlota asked "What you hear." I confirmed "I'm going there right now. Tell me which room Ana is in and I'll show up there in just over an hour."

"On 268, on the second floor." I reported and with she hung up and I was left wondering if I should tell her family or something, which I should do, but now they were dealing with Rebeca's funeral and with Gabriela ill... I don't know, but I decided at least someone in her family have to know, so I called Angela. "Marcos? What is your call about? How's your sister?" asked my best friend's grandmother. "Well, it's getting better, but that's not what I was calling you for."

"What's going on? And Gabriela?" she questioned "In the emergency room." I blurted out again, not knowing how to tell her what's happening in a way that wouldn't worry her. "What?" she whispered "Yes, but I can't explain it to you now. Someone should be with her; from the family I mean." I said "Alex?" she asked, composing herself a little "He's with her and he's not thinking of separating, but I say it would be better if there's someone from the house because I know you're busy with everything about Rebeca, but if anyone of you comes, you can inform each other."

"I'm going there right now." She hung up and I stared into space, thinking about everything happening right now. An hour had passed since my brother and Alex left to check on Gabriela when I noticed how Ana began to move and want to open her eyes.

"Hey little one, how are you feeling?" I said with a small smile on my face, pushing away all my worries, at least those that have to do with Gabriela. "My stomach doesn't hurt anymore." my sister murmured with a small smile on her face. "You don't know how happy that makes me" I answered sincerely and relieved that at least she is feeling better. "And mommy?" Ana asked curiously. "Gabriela will be here in a little while. She went for a coffee to stay awake and take care of you."

I could see a slight smile which made me form one too, but I also know I was lying to her. I think it's better she doesn't know Gabriela is in the emergency room, it wasn't necessary worry her about something that wasn't necessary at this moment, not now she's feeling better.

"And Carlos?" The little girl asked again "He went to accompany Gabriela; you know how overprotective our brother is with you two." I answered, at least something is true "I'm here princess." At those words we raised our gazes towards the door and stared at the three of them. It looked like Gabriela wasn't all right at all, but there she is, at the door of my sister's room.
