Chapter 19

"What do you say?"

Yao Fang had thinking to do. Something his family had tried to keep him away from for so long, and something he had begged to be a part of, to get a chance to show his worth, he didn't see a reason to say no. But somewhere his gut was telling him, Chen Dulan was not someone he should associate with too much.

It didn't matter if Chen Dulan looked weak, his aura was not something he could take lightly. The sudden reminder made him shutter, "You haven't killed people yet." Yao Fang did want to become capable, but was meddling with Chen Dulan necessary?

"Young Master, they won't bring you to C City next year." Chen Dulan spoke as if he was reading Yao Fang's thoughts.

"What do you mean?"

"Most people at MinYao don't even know of your existence. Once it is made public, someone inexperienced like Young Master could easily be held hostage. Boss would be at a disadvantage, and your brother would also be troubled. So, they'll force you to stay here forever, probably marry Feng Huali and have children." Chen Dulan walked towards the stairs. "I think Young Master could become a great superior, given the chance. I am the only one who expects to see you at your true position."

Yao Fang was left speechless, he tried to spout some insult, but was only faced with more intimidation. Chen Dulan had sweetly shown him his place. He felt embarrassed and angry, all at the same time. Who was he? Just the boss's son, nothing more. Yet he had acted like Chen Dulan's boss all this time.

"Chen Dulan!" He shouted. "Don't take me for a fool."

"Young Master's face is red... did he catch my fever?" Yao Fang looked away.

Chen Dulan was... really something.

"You've really got some guts to talk to her again and again." The three 'followers' had cornered him near the water cooler. One of them held Chen Dulan's collar and bent him half outside a window. "You're gonna see what our threats meant."

"I never speak to Su Yun, she is the one who always-" His eyes widened at a feeling. "What- what are you doing?" Something heavy pressed behind his neck.

"You'll remember next time, before you speak to Su Yun!"

A rock? A brick? Something came crashing on his head. Then followed a bucket of water on his head, he probably got a concussion, maybe he was bleeding too. The pressure from the water almost made him fall out of the window, but the three had held his wrists and pulled him back inside. "It hurts right? remember that pain the next time you dare to look at her. Look at your bloody face in the mirror, you think she would like guys like you?" He really couldn't decipher half of the words.

"Let's just lock him in the storage room."

"But he's all drenched and bleeding from the forehead! What if he dies? We'll get into some serious trouble!"

"I heard he lives alone, and even works part time to save money! He probably doesn't have any family either, who will put us in trouble?"

"But... what if he really freezes to death?"

"Ah... fine fine, just throw him in the room without the lock then? If he wakes up he'll walk out on his own."

Chen Dulan was mostly out of it, but he sensed danger. The store room was used by the teachers to store old records and props or other things. They rarely came by this corridor. This wouldn't kill him... right?

"I still think this is too much..."

"Don't be a coward now... you were the most enthusiastic in this."

I thought he would fight back a little! Who knew he would bleed so much and faint immediately?! What if he really dies because of this?"

"Just shut up... we can't do anything now. What's done is done, let's just finish it."

Chen Dulan made a small noise of protest with his receding consciousness, but it was ignored with their panicked arguments. He wanted to say, that he wouldn't tell anyone if they let him go. But words won't come out coherent.

The last thing he remembered was being thrown somewhere dusty, and a creaking door being closed, obstructing any light falling on him. He was thrown in a dark room.
