When the scorpion's screams echoed in the tunnels, everyone left in the tunnel was aware of the danger.
Lixin and Shi rushed forward quickly, with screams and calls for help coming from behind. After turning so many corners, it was difficult for them to retrace their steps.
"Keep going," Lixin shouted from behind, fighting a medium-sized scorpion.
Shi continued to walk away and saw a flash of light in the distance. It looked like someone was fighting something in the tunnel to his left. He looked back at Lixin, who had the upper hand. "I'm going to take the tunnel on the left," he shouted to Lixin.
Lixin had tried to stab the scorpion several times, but it seemed that its exoskeleton was too hard for Lixin's sword to break through, so he continued to aim at the scorpion's legs.
The six-legged scorpion continued to charge towards Abrafo, raised it metasoma and aimed at Abrafo with its sharp stinger. Abrafo knew that if the scorpion hit him with its stinger, he would be doomed, so he continued to avoid it as much as possible.
The blind scorpion's sting struck the side of the tunnel and shards of rock began to fall. "You can't beat me. You want to bury me alive, huh," Abrafo said angrily and charged his sword straight at the scorpion.
Abrafo rolled quickly to the left, then jumped to the right, hoping to fool the blind scorpion. The blind scorpion quickly waved its poisonous stinger at Abrafo, but Abrafo landed on its back. The blind scorpion directly swung its stinger at Abrafo. Abrafo quickly move forward towards the scorpion's back, swung his sword with both of his hands, chopped off the blind scorpion's metasoma. Abrafo flipped forward using all the strength he had and stabbed the sword deeply into the scorpion's back.
The scorpion shook from side to side in pain and continued to screech. The more the scorpion struggled, the deeper Abrafo thrust his sword into the scorpion's back. After a brief struggle, the blind scorpion died in the center of the tunnel. Abrafo jumped off the scorpion's back and shook off the blood on his sword. Just as he was about to sheath the sword, he saw a black shadow rushing over from his right side. Abrafo was worried that it might be another scorpion, so he turned to the oncoming shadow and brandished his sword at the black figure that was less than three yards away from him.
After being chased from one tunnel to another, four of the seven people who followed Gang were also killed by scorpions. Hai, the three participants, and the two male participants they met in the tunnel decided to join forces to kill the larger scorpion that had been chasing them for a long time.
"Hurry!" Hai shouted and swung his sword at the scorpion's hard shell. The big scorpion's tough skin bounced Hai's sword back, and its legs swung over, knocking Hai into the wall. Hai fell to the ground and his left leg was seriously injured.
Gang ran ahead with a small torch, and Shik was chasing after him. Just as they passed through a tunnel on the right, Shik saw a light coming from the distance.
Shik stopped and said, "Your Highness, light," he said, pointing to his right.
Gang stopped and walked to Shik. He said, "Let's go, you lead the way."
Shik quickly ran into the tunnel. As Shik approached, he saw two men standing at the end of the tunnel. Shik shouted, "Help! Help!" Shik continued running and continued shouting toward the end of the tunnel.
"The sound came from this tunnel," Hajime said, pointing to the tunnel in the middle. He looked closer and saw someone running towards him. "Yul... Someone is running towards us."
Shik rushed out of the tunnel and followed by Gang and an injured participant.
Yul asked, "What happened in there?"
Just when Gang raised his head, he saw Hajime and Yul. He gasped, "I thought you were taken away by those peacocks?"
Hajime smiled and said, "Well, I'm saved." He looked at the dark tunnel. "So, what are you running from?"
"Scorpions... big and small scorpions that live in those tunnels," the participant said, pointing to the tunnel. "We still have some people trapped in there fighting the mother scorpion. Please help my friend who is still trap in the tunnel."
Yul turned to Hajime and said, "You and the others stay here. Just in case anyone else comes out of the other tunnels."
Hajime nodded. "Be careful," he said, smiling. "I know those creatures have no chance against you."
Yul stood at the tunnel entrance, pulled a white paper talisman from his robe and held it up. The top of the paper talisman soon lit up. Yul held the paper talisman, and slowly walked into the dark tunnel.
As Yul approached, he heard a noise in the distance and rushed over to find Hai and the two participants still fighting the mother scorpion.
Yul rushed out of the tunnel and threw the paper talisman directly at the scorpion that was holding Hai to the ground as it was about to sting him. The scorpion knocked the talisman away with its metasoma. As soon as the paper talisman hit the wall of the tunnel, it was destroyed immediately. At this moment, Yul pulled out the sword from the scabbard on his back, rushed forward and swung the sword at the scorpion. The scorpion blocked Yul's blow with his left front leg. The two participants helped Hai up and backed away from the scorpion as they tried their best to fight the scorpion, but to no avail.
Yul swung his sword twice at the same spot on the scorpion's side, leaving only a crack in the skin. After fighting the scorpions many times, Yul knew that fighting the creature would take a lot of time if he wanted to break the skin and hit the heart, so Yul decided that since the fate of his other friends was still unknown, he would only disable the creature.
"Help me distract her," Yul shouted.
Hai and the two participants rejoin the fight, trying to distract the mother scorpion in front.
Yul quickly moved to the right, aimed his sword at the scorpion's joints, and chopped off the first right leg of the scorpion. Then he quickly moved to the left and chopped off the first leg in front. Yul used the tunnel wall as support to push himself up over the scorpion. Then he swung his sword towards the last two legs of the scorpion's left side. Yul continued to repeat this action, cutting off one leg at a time, and just like that Yul chopped off all eight legs of the scorpion and left its body lying in the middle of the tunnel, screeching in pain.
Yul turned to look at the three men and asked, "Did you mark your way?"
Hai said, "We did at the beginning, but when we were chased by those scorpions, we lost track."
Yul said, "Let's get out of here first. This way." Yul led the three men out of the tunnel.
Abrafo stopped his sword an inch from Shi's neck. If he hadn't stopped in time, Shi would be a headless man now.
"What? I mean how? How did you get here?" Abrafo asked. "What about the others?"
"Lord Lixin is right behind me," Shi said, looking back, he found that Lixin was not beside him. He turned around and started back the way he came.
Abrafo grabbed Shi's arm. "What are you doing?" he asked.
Shi said, "I'm going back to find Lord Lixin." He pulled his arm away. "He's fighting that scorpion on his own."
Abrafo looked Shi and said, "You stay here, I will find him. Which way did you come from?"
"I came through the tunnel on the left," Shi said.
Abrafo said, "You stay here and don't move. I will come back with Lixin."
Shi nodded obediently at Abrafo.
Abrafo looked at Shi and said, "When I come back, I'd better see you still standing here."
Shi said, "I won't move.
Abrafo smiled at Shi, and he quickly rushed forward along the dark tunnel.
The people Yul had just rescued sat down to rest, take a breath, and calm their frightened hearts, while Gang, Shik, Hai, and the three male participants sat across from Yul and Hajime.
Yul looked at the people sitting across from him and asked, "With your combined abilities, you should be able to defeat that creature, so is there any problem?"
"The scorpion's skin is so thick that our swords can't penetrate it," said the uninjured participant.
Hajime looked at Yul and said, "Now we have a bigger problem. We have more than one enemy to deal with." He paused, then looked at the men sitting across from him. "Hey, why are you here? I thought everyone was going to the fortress."
The injured participant said, "We have arrived at the fortress. The entrance to the fortress is a cave with only one entrance. We have given up on the competition and no longer compete for the title of Phoenix General. So many of us decided to stay outside the cave, but the monk came out of the cave and asked us to go and rest in the cave, because there was open space in the cave to accommodate everyone."
Hajime asked, "How are the monk and the old man doing?"
The injured participants said, "They're all fine."
Yul asked, "What's in the cave?"
The uninjured participant said, "It was a large open area with a large open top and ten different tunnels in the open space. After resting for a night, everyone decided to explore the tunnels out of curiosity. The tunnel we chose was okay, until we met Prince Gang and his men, then we decided to help Prince Gang fight against the scorpions. He sighed sadly. "There were six of us originally, but now there are only two of us left."
Yul looked at Gang and his men. He asked, "Then why are you being chased by those scorpions?"
Shik said, "We had no idea. We were exploring the connected tunnels when we heard a loud noise and then all of a sudden these scorpions came out of the tunnel walls and started attacking us."
As soon as Shik finished speaking, a man was thrown out of the tunnel on the far left and crashed into the bushes, causing the group of people sitting there to jump to their feet.
"You son of a..." The man groaned in pain and stood up slowly.
"Abrafo?" Hajime said in surprise.
