The shocking news

Christopher carried her into the bathroom, took a bath with her, and brought her to bed.

They were lying side by side, hugging each other, not bothering to go down and eat.

Abigail was drowsy. His rhythmic heartbeat was like a lullaby. Moreover, his warm embrace made her feel comfortable and safe. How was she able to stay awake?

In contrast, Christopher was motionless and absorbed in his thoughts about Abigail's mother. He was unable to secure a job for her at any of the Shermans' other hotels.

His father had dealt with her so ruthlessly that she couldn't even step onto any of their properties, let alone find work there.

Christopher felt powerless and realized that Abigail would be upset to hear all this. He detested seeing her feeling down and out of spirits. Therefore, he decided he would approach Brad and ask him to find Rachel a job.

"Did you talk to your mother?" he inquired.

"Hmm..." she hummed lazily, not opening her eyes.
