I trusted you, but you betrayed me.

Rachel, who had been cowering next to the sofa, approached Abigail. "You are back. She forced a smile, masking her anxiety. "Christopher has been waiting for you."

She stood in front of her, blocking Christopher's vision.

Abigail glanced at her for a moment and tilted her head to look at him. Another wave of chill tightened her skin.

"Be wise," Rachel said quietly in her ears. "You can't ignore him any longer. Talk to him." She turned around to face Christopher, grinning. "See, I told you she would be back soon. She has returned."

Before Rachel was done speaking, Abigail stormed into her room and slammed the door shut. She was not ready yet to face Christopher.

The shock she had gotten the day before was massive. It was difficult for her to forgive him and forget everything. On top of that, he was enraged.

Shouldn't he be persuading her?

He should have gone to his knees to ask her to go with him, but instead, he was angry with her.
