His childish act

Christopher jumped out of bed and went into the closet, knowing she was close by. He did, indeed, find her there.

Abigail, who was taking his clothes out, stopped and turned to him.

He smiled as he drew her into his embrace.

Abigail was as stiff as a stick in his arms. She didn't push him away, though, because she also missed the warmth and the sense of safety that she could only get from him.

Christopher was afraid that it was all a dream and that she would vanish the moment he opened his eyes. He lowered his head and buried his face on her shoulder, inhaling her scent. He stroked her hair and rubbed his nose against her neck and shoulder.

The sweet aroma was clearly telling him that it was not a dream, yet he didn't open his eyes.
