Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered.

"Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." 

He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute.

“Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?”

His silence was the clear answer.

Jasper was stunned. He was not expecting this. He asked her the reason, and she simply stated that she didn't want to enrage Christopher.

"Why would Christopher be angry?" Jasper asked, puzzled.

"You know how furious he was when he saw you with me. He will be upset if I start working here. I don't want to enrage him. Please, Jasper… try to understand."

Jasper listened carefully as Abigail explained. He could tell she was terrified of Christopher, and this irritated him. He wished he could tell her to leave Christopher, but he knew he would not act recklessly.

Jasper sighed and looked at her with a hint of disappointment. "I understand your concerns, Abigail, but I don't think it's fair for you to give up your job just because of Christopher's insecurities. You are a valuable employee, and I need you here. Please think about it and let me know."
