“What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm.

Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered.

"Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." 

He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute.

“Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?”

His silence was the clear answer.

Abigail's thoughts swirled like a tempest within her mind, her encounter with Lance leaving her in a state of surprise and introspection. It had been so long since she had seen him that his presence in the same city had taken her completely by surprise.

It was strange that he had never attempted to contact her. She would not have known he was here if she hadn't met him in the ice cream shop.

She looked down at her phone, checking the number he had saved on it.
