What are you hiding, Jasper?

Jasper felt his anger rising as Britney continued to taunt him. Her mocking smile grated against his nerves, but he knew he couldn't respond in kind. Whatever she had said was true, and he had no way to refute her words.

"But let me tell you one thing, Jasper," Britney warned, her face hardening into a scowl. "Don't ever think of cheating on me just because I'm disabled. You chose this life willingly, and you have to be faithful to me."

"I don't need you to remind me of that," Jasper snapped back, his voice tinged with annoyance. "I know what I'm doing."

"Huh…" Britney chuckled and pushed her wheelchair toward the bed. "Can you help me get up on the bed?" she asked, her voice becoming sweet and pleading.

"Sure." Jasper assisted her into the bed; his movements were economical and efficient. As he tried to withdraw, Britney clung to him, her arms wrapping around his neck like tendrils. Jasper's gray eyes narrowed, and his jaw clenched in annoyance.
