The next two weeks were crazy with preparing for finals and getting ready for Graduation. We camped out at my house or Ryan’s, studying. Things were heating between Ryan and me, with our make-out sessions getting steamy. It was making studying even more difficult.

Ryan and I were sitting in the first hour of flirting. We heard our names announced over the loudspeaker to come to the office. We looked at each other, confused, and shrugged. We couldn’t be in trouble since we had done no pranks; lately, we hadn’t ruined dances, and I was sober.

We walked in and directed to the counselor’s office. We sat down in front of Mr. Harrison.

/"I bet you’re wondering why I had them call you down here?/" He asked us.

/"Well, we were looking at everyone’s grades and grade point averages. We had to pick a valedictorian of the senior class. Congratulations, Alex, you’ve earned it,/" he congratulated me.
