Leaving seemed to be the last thing Blake wanted, but beneath my worry for my brother, he gave in. It was early morning when he left. The day passed without further word from either of them. Noon came. Then evening. Then night.

It had slipped my mind that my mom was still in the house, and it had taken me hours to realise that Milo wasn't my only source of comfort. The commotion must not have been as loud as it had seemed, or she must have been even more tired than usual as she had slept through the fight. It had taken crawling into her bed, bursting into tears, to wake her.

She had calmed me down and held me close, as though I was a small boy once more. She had managed to get me to tell her what had happened, and afterwards, she had wrapped her arms around me, drawing me close.
