The confidence I felt in those words were infinite until I saw the twist in Isaac's expression. He shook his head. His mouth turned down, forming a sneering mockery. And when he ragged his hand through his hair, revealing scuffs and swollen cuts along the beds of his knuckles, icy dread slithered down my spine.

I hoped that he had just punched a wall. I hoped that Blake hadn't found him. More than anything, I hoped that.

/"He's not a nice guy, Oz. Trust me on this. Have I ever lied to you before?/" He waited for me to shake my head. He had told me that the tooth fairy was a ten-foot wasp, but that was more teasing than it was lying. He had never lied about anything serious before. /"Exactly. So trust me now./"
