He said we could clean it up in the morning but he made me let go long enough to wash my hands. I grabbed it back as soon as I was done, not even waiting to dry them. He had held Freddy for me while I had washed and he handed them back after trying his best to dry our joined hands after he had dried my free hand.

I had never been scared of the dark, so I didn't really understand why it suddenly seemed to terrify me. Even after nightmares before, I would be fine after I realized it was just a dream and I was awake.
